In your hideout you equip Visage of Ayah, then you put a Lifetap gem in your Essence Drain, then you refund Enhanced Barrier passive node at Doriyani. At that point you should have no ES. Then you tap Essence Drain until you are at low Life (under 35% of HP). After that You replace the Lifetap gem and Helmet with your regular ones and you get the Enhanced Barrier passive node back.

And then you hope that you never lose your energy shield or you have to repeat the process. Also don't heal yourself. The whole point is to barely scratch by in terms of health points because you can get some sweet damage and cast speed bonuses from being low on life.

Is it that complicated? Can't you permanently spec out of nodes like "+10 energy shield" and then just remove all your gear if you need to get your ES to 0? Almost all the ES passives are % based.
