Is the primary purpose of PoE supposed to be a "slot machine"?

It seems the game is developed by chineese games LOL.
Yes soon we will have gatcha for items. |

" Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Diablo 4, PoE 1, Last Epoch, Torchlight. " What an awful dystopian future you've imagined. Like, you are playing the game and you kill a boss. And then a series of "items" drop and they are all of varied quality and usefulness. Most of them wouldn't really be super good. But there's always the chance you hit some sort of "hidden lottery" gacha based around some sort of say, Random Number Generator running in the gacha server's computer that decides that you get a really good item. Sounds really awful and gambling-like Last edited by vexorian#9572 on Aug 28, 2025, 2:32:14 AM

" How, you ask? I've already answered that question previously. But here's just a couple of clear examples to point it out. ![]() ![]() ![]() And one for PoE2 which is very much gradually heading towards that as well the more time passes, and the more people such as yourself ask for changes that allow for more of your gambling addiction to thrive. Whether you like to admit it or not. ![]() "Sigh" Last edited by IonSugeRau1#1069 on Aug 28, 2025, 2:33:13 AM

" if u dont like hunting for loot maybe arpgs are not for u them |

" These are all essentially either early inspirations for PoE which were limited by the technology at the time or lack of better ideas for gameplay (such as Diablo 2 or 3). and the rest are quite literally heavily inspired from the rest and PoE 1 itself. Just as tab targeting gameplay in MMO's evolved into a more actiony style of gameplay, as the technology evolved and allowed for it, the same should have happened to this genre as well... and it was definitely going in that direction initially ... yet here we are going backwards... for the reasons that I've already stated. Any other games, you know, from other genres? What else do you play and enjoy that has loot as an important part of it? "Sigh" Last edited by IonSugeRau1#1069 on Aug 28, 2025, 2:42:46 AM

" You don't get my point at all, I like hunting for loot. The problem isn't loot hunting, the problem is when loot hunting becomes more important then absolutely everything else and at the EXPENSE of everything else. "Sigh"

" so how does that apply to poe 2 where ur super engaged in combat ? boss fights in poe 2 are very good. loot hunting is the absolute core of every arpg . the only thing in my opinion they did wrong is the whole endless "world" thing and towers . |

" What do you mean by how? Apart from the first playthrough of the campaign of act 1 at launch which I thought was amazing and gave me hope at the time (everyone else found it amazing too as far as I'm aware), nothing has felt even remotely as engaging as that. Endgame is literally PoE1 in disguise.. one-shot everything and screen clear everything, including most bosses. I gave this example before quite a few times but I literally don't know what the dual bosses in Trials of the Sekhemas do because I've killed them with a bunch of grenades before they could do anything. Aside from that, I've seen how even act one has gotten considerably easier in dawn of the hunt and far less engaging.. and I'm expecting it to get even less engaging with this next patch, sadly.
