Constant ping jump every other second

Good day,

I've been playing most of the mercenaries season without too much issues. Yesterday (Aug 1) I booted the game up after a week of inactivity. The game has become unplayable. I play on the Amsterdam server.

Every other second I get a network spike of 500m/s and higher. The game freezes for a second then I can continue. This happens every other second. I checked to see if it was the framerate, graphics drivers or my router.

1. I set my max foreground FPS to 60 and updated the drivers. - No result
2. I reset the router by shutting it off for 2 minutes then booting it up again - no result.
3. Rebooted PC - no result
4. I tested other games, livestreams, YouTube, online TV. that all went smoothly with the exception of Warframe, which also seems to have some kind of hickups in group based multiplayer. Starcraft 2 online went flawless
5. Checked with my friend in the game playing on Milan server. She has no issues.

Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor (3.60Ghz)
32,0 GB RAM
Windows 11 home version 24H2
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3060 12GB
10TB SSD space
100MB / 47mbit copper landline internet connection - which is horrible. I recently moved to a new home. The internet on PoE worked fine the last months on the new address but since Saturday PoE has been giving me that stutter every other second.

Can play elden Ring and the latest Call of Duty at the same time without having hardware problems...but recently elden Ring has been giving me framedrops ever since I switched to Windows 11.

If this is so and it happens constantly then it should be easily identified where the breakdown is if it's network or pathing related.

Do this test and link the pastebin back here.

Hello Eleven777,

https://pastebin.com/MHWd0iU8

Test above. Ran the test with PoE open in the background and not doing anything else. The lagspikes every other second were consistent the whole time.

Further information: Internet is running on a brand new ethernet cable 7 weeks old, 3 meter long. Not on wifi.
Router is also new.

Not having streams open, or any active downloads during the last sessions or the test. Unless Win-11 was stealing my data in secret. Windows defender showed no signs of intrusions or hacks. No active malware detected.

My internet provider had/has no active disturbances or announced maintenance.
Did a speed test and turned out normal. No deviations.
Cleared browser cookies and caches recently (few weeks ago) but the time interval doesn't correlate with my problems. PoE was working well for the most part then.

I play on Steam. Few months ago I fused the old account with the steam account. After that the game ran fine too.

Ingame networking setup is set to Auto and it defaults to Lockstep mode. Tried setting it to Predictive, but the change was negligable though it was noticeable. Still unplayable.

read the FAQ but couldn't find anything that would provide further information.

Thanks already for providing some help.
FYI,

the link you shared had me looking for the :Open your client logs (located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\logs\Client.txt" by default)

With Steam now, the file is in a seperate folder.
(Drive) > Steam > Steamapps > common >Path of Exile > logs > Client.txt.
Might be good to update that to the thread.

Hiya,

The problem is starting on your ISP's network (KPN?).
The packet loss and high ping spikes are starting between your router and the hop afterwards which I'm assuming is their hub equipment.

You need to call your ISP.

This league, and especially recently Singapore server, is also having massive lag spikes constantly and frequently throughout the day. I feel like Singapore server has been neglected the most of all the PoE servers. Every league, there is a phase that lasts days or a week where there are lag spikes.

Yep 100% agree with the SG server issues and routing.

However, this topic is not about SG servers and is related to a very specific issue.

Feel free to post your SG and OCE server concerns in any of these posts:

Thank you for the help. Will get to work on that. But what do I tell them? They have a call center that is outsourced and most of the employees don't know much about this. Not sure if it will be sufficient if i tell them this.

Will replacing the router as a whole do the trick or they need to fix something on their end?
