" How do you think it was in 2014 when the new Boss Atziri released ?( just as an ancient example) I tell you: THe Boss was ultra hard and only very few players managed to beat that new endgame content...Also, less drops than in Poe 2 back then...Game is working as intended, numbers are ok ;P Endgame is very accessable nowadays. The op is just bs and those are the usual numbers, that show that everything is working like it has been working for years. it is summer and some players only play the new game, so no new record, but that is all. 150-200k players come back in 2 months you'll see(if they manage to release a poe 1 league then of course, expecting delay^^) Last edited by Strickl3r#3809 on Jul 27, 2025, 4:12:30 PM

" Good retention indeed. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks |

I also don't like how the packs are separate, because if they were merged not only they would offer a better value, but we would support the system that GGG has in place for both games rather than vote for that particular game and what more is to come.
In the current state both games are necessary to retain us enough through a four month cycle (at least for me) to justify being a supporter. Last edited by Kopogero#0635 on Jul 28, 2025, 2:12:46 PM

I do not care about PoE Deuce until it's ready for a full release and closer to the original but with better graphics. I literally stopped playing it over half a year ago and haven't touched it since*, nor do I plan to in the near future. I don't hate it because it's a sequel, I hate it because it's very different from what we were originally promised, and it hurts my soul.
* (Well, not exactly and technically not 100% true, as I did play a little bit to test my GPU voltage curve with DLSS before PoE 1 got DLSS support. But that's not me actually playing the game, lol. I just want to make that clear.) [3.26] Poor Man's Ward Loop: https://youtu.be/9zC-Q6a_MwY

By 1-2 months mark most players have completed their builds once you have no more upgrades to perform, there is nothing left to do in the game.
The entire game is just about farming currency to make upgrades for your build and nothing else. Last edited by GODOFWARSANCHEZ#4574 on Jul 28, 2025, 3:37:26 PM

I discussed earlier how it's more important when we're supporting than how much despite what I said above that a $30 supporter pack doesn't feel like most are getting a good deal given their retention.
It would be ignorant for most who care about PoE and its future not to support during this period when many are justifying not to for things like the recent server issues. Now, when you're supporting you're giving the company a chance or opportunity of what more is to come or follow. I do see further changes coming either in terms of monetization or quality of content / features, but for someone who's playing the game exclusively to compete with/against the community it will matter to me less what kind of a league/content (theme park) arrives or if they'll be new classes, ascendancies, skills etc. Consistent and frequent events that do challenge some of the best within the community is how GGG can gain my support. |

frequent events create burnout, a fallow period is 100% part of PoE's success especially as so many players go hard AF the first few weeks.
These numbers are good and from a raw numbers perspective I think GGG will be pretty happy with them considering the league turnover time. |

" You are not "supporting" anything. Even back then, it was, and it still is now, merely a psychological phrase to bridge the gap from company to consumer, in an effort to appear more friendly and more appealing, closer to something like a friend. And it was used to get to the point where investors caught interest. Chris and others bowing out with several million in their pockets should maybe tell you that. It's no coincidence the words "thank you for your support" were chosen. And it's no coincidence that "your support" gets you something in return. It's no different with people using Patreon, which in most cases just means "give me money", i.e. someone like Josh Strife Hayes, who has a room full of expensive toys and figurines, who very clearly needs your "support" to continue to make videos (i.e. he uses the phrase "thank you to all my Patreon supporters who make videos like this possible"). And no, I still like and watch him despite of that and this is not a call-out with malice. People just become blind to this stuff. They can literally watch their favorite "influencer" become richer and richer in front of their eyes, going from a webcam and shitty apartment to 5 cars and a mansion, and they STILL give them free money. If you think GGG is any different in that regard, I have a bridge to sell to you. @BaumisMagicalWorld#0673,
If you can get people to buy your product you're doing something right. Money is useless if it has no use to improve our life experience in anyway. I've had excess money sitting in my bank through over a decade like how countless others from the past that eventually transferred their wealth to their children, relatives or others. It was the Tencent subsidiary company that gave those millions to Chris Wilson, it wasn't the PoE playerbase. The new owners invested their excess cash in a company that would gain more value as it entered in new markets, which is why the steam numbers now are much greater. Every dollar that GGG receives each league from the playerbase a percentage of it goes toward the "live service" and the quality of it will always depend on the total dollars received after the last few leagues / expansions. It's all about how much you care about this particular game to remain relevant in your life and your money or support will always matter. |
