From 178k to 42k in a month and a half.

There's a fraction of accounts left participating on these forums and the majority of those who're left playing and supporting the game won't provide that critical or objective feedback that GGG may use for future growth, which is why IMO the pressure on Mark Roberts will be even greater.

It's a significant drop in retention, but not surprising at least to me. What good and bad changes you predict will be coming after 3.26 in the following leagues and what do you think GGG should focus its resources as a priority to address? Chris Wilson despite his extraordinary achievements it was admirable of him to give opportunity for others to lead.

Popularity matters especially to the established streamers to maintain a healthy viewership. The Gauntlet despite its appeal has been a mediocre event at best in my opinion in its design, but I'm not going to dive into that here. When there's series of events happening that are going against the company and this particular game it will need a competent lead developer more than ever to navigate it accordingly.

How is this drop in player count any different than any other league?

Has any league ever kept more than half its week 1 players?

I don't get why people keep talking about this with these games.

New league comes, streamers come back, streamer fanboys come back, streamers blast for a few weeks then get bored and move on, their fanboys follow.

Also, this is the first "proper" league since POE 2 launched. I'm better a good 10% (or more) of those initial players were those that were brought into the franchise with POE 2 and probably half of them didn't care for it for one reason or another and moved on.
Ah, a dip in player engagement? Truly revolutionary—haven’t seen that exact drop-off in every other league, right? How utterly shocking. And let’s not kid ourselves, this league wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire with innovation. It was just another round of power creep shoved into an oversized care package, making sure players hit their goals a tad faster.

As for the Gauntlet, we’re still waiting for you to step into a race… but I’m sure the endless stream of rage-bait threads is much more your speed. I mean, who needs action when you can just keep the outrage rolling?

It's a seasonal game idk what you expect. Play league-launch for 1-4 weeks, quit and do other stuff, repeat.

Working as intended and numbers look pretty good
Meh. I'm on my 9th or maybe 10th character this league, and I'm still hunting gear for myself and my Merc. Still plenty of things for me to do.

It has a healthier 6-week player retention than both Settlers and Necro, despite
unprecedented widespread server issues. I'm quietly impressed by the numbers.

PoE1 + PoE2 put in a blender to get a cocktail. The cheapest support pack comes with a $30 price tag and that's $60 for both games for a 3+ month of retention.

Curious when the support packs will be added to the blender as well. GGG can be more creative with its monetizing model, like fewer packs with $39.99 and $59.99 prize tag every four months and that will elevate the job on the MTX team, while adding overall more value to have those packs.

Based on the above chart retention being a "supporter" and purchasing $30 pack doesn't seem like a good deal for the majority when they're playing a game on average for a month every four months or more. Of course, the monetizing model gives more freedom and choice for players to enjoy the full content and features of both games for far less long term.

I'm sure GGG goals and hopes are to amass as many consistent supporters after they've played their game for free. In the end its about satisfaction, like to feel that you're a valued supporter who's getting a good deal on the money spent.

No surprise there.
The connection problems were abysmal in the beginning so tons of people quit after trying some time.
It's the same game with the same problems it was 2 months ago (end of settlers). The game is two steps away from maintenance mode and endgame is now firmly designed around the player you see on twitch compilation videos.
