Ultra fast attack speed

Do we have an idea what the fastest attack speed possible is?

One build I always wanted to have is a range character that shoots like a machine gun. The reason is simple: it looks awesome.

That translates to a 75% increase to attack speed when using a bow.

With a 1.4 APS bow, that will come out to be 2.45 APS. While it's not bad, it's nowhere near the "machine gun" coolness range.

Is there a way to make the APS significantly higher? Like over 4 APS?

Of course, I do realize that could create a major balance issue. So...

Alternatively, can we add a cosmetic change, like 300% increase in attack speed with a 75% reduction in all effects? So, the new APS will be 4 times the original, or 1.4 * 4 = 5.6. The new damage, for example, will be 1/4th the original. Combined, the DPS will not change.

In fact, I'm willing to take a bigger hit to have the ultra fast attack animation. A 300% increase in APS is well worth an 85% across the board reduction to me.

I can't be the only one who wants this, can I? :(

There used to be a unique bow named Barrage that you would've liked. Its damage was 1-1, but it had 60% increased attack speed. There was a video of a player who achieved over 7 attacks per second with it.

I harken back to the days of joy where double strike worked with bows. :)

Well, I got all the APS increases that I can find. Did I miss something?

I just thought of something: how about put a $5 item that quadruples the shooting animation? So, for every shot, the shooting animation would fire off 4 times during the same time span as the actual shot. The system only registers it as one shot, but it will look really cool :)

97% increased attack speed with 81/111 used. Obviously it forgoes a lot of nodes that would be useful, though.


Edit: What am I thinking? If you just get the frenzy nodes instead of the bow nodes and use Frenzy you can get much higher.

91/111 points -- 100% increased attack speed before frenzy charges (I missed a node).

Mmm I didn't think about frenzy. So, 5 slow shots will build up to a massive speed boost...

A Thicket Bow can get up to 1.94 attacks per second with the best mods on it.
Gloves can have 13% increased attack speed
Split Arrow gets 1% attack speed for every 1% quality.
Faster Attacks gets 1% attack speed for every level, and 1% attack speed for every 3% quality.

Using Danny's build of 100% base and +3 frenzy charges, you can get yourself to 130% attack speed. Level 19 Faster Attacks with 20% quality, Split Arrow with 20% qaulity will give you another 70%. 213% increase on 1.94 aps gets you to 6.07 attacks per second. 6 attacks per second with each shot firing 5 or 6 arrows (not sure if Split Arrow every gets to 6 arrows)...

That's a lot of arrow spam.
