" yep 100% true. Its just an excuse to not improve the trade system. You are just left to wonder whether they don't have the time, are bored to make any changes, or for some (hidden) reason the current system actually fulfills their goals. they also promote excuses-lies in other massive subjects to not improve the game towards the average player logic. |

" It's never been hidden. They have described why they have the system they have on numerous occasions and have talked about it extensively in interviews. Only one such reason was the social experience (which I agree is nonsense). It's just that players don't listen, don't trust them, or simply disagree. But frankly....players (including me) are idiots by and large. You choose to play a game because you like the game that the developers have made. If you don't trust the people that made the game and their rationale for creating the game the way they did, then why play it at all? Suggestions are perfectly fine, but these blanket attacks and non-feedback threads are quite annoying. If trade was truly so unbelievably bad, yet also so unbelievably tied to the identity of the game and character progression (which it is)........this game would have died out over a decade ago. But it didn't, and actually thrived. Because the problems that exist with trade here, are no different than problems that exist with trade in ALL games in which trade exists. The player is meant to learn how to maximize the limitations which exist, or ignore it. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 23, 2025, 11:48:09 AM

" 1.It thrived for 10years woohoooooo!, like I give a .... cent about it. 2. No, others games don't have the same issues with trading, cause trading is pretty much the most important factor in poe trade leagues. 1. Back to one now; a. the past doesn't mean much, especially when my loading times keep increasing and increasing, even though I upgraded my gpu a year ago. Not to mention that with the new items introduced I'm forced into more complicated builds and as a result more trades. b. The player's trade behaviour have changed. This league I had issues trading items during early start, because everyone thought they hit a jackpot and simply up the price after a whisper. Solution found? Yes it seems nowadays noone trades a listed item in the first hours, so you probably need to set filter on listed a couple days ago. TLDR, something that worked a couple time ago, doesn't mean it will always stay effective with no changes needed. |

" Every now and then a genuinely guffaw moment arises in these forums. This is one of those now and thens. Thank you. I poop, therefore I am.

" You are misquoting what I wrote. I even said trade has problems. HOWEVER, the problems do not warrant the blanket statements you made. Nor does your previous post help, because again you are talking in blanket statements that aren't even true. Trade has changed a LOT throughout the years of PoE. And yes, trade is CENTRAL to many other arpgs as it is in PoE trade; its hilarious to claim otherwise. And in each game, trade has always been a hot button for debate. The issues may differ, but there are ALWAYS major issues with every system. In my personal opinion, PoE's pre-faustus system is one of the best trade scenes available across the entire genre. Also one of the easiest to use, with massive customization and bulk trading capabilities. Not to mention the ease of listing items for sale as a seller. Debate....but not total writeoff. History DOES matter here: you are playing a game that is well established. It is even, in fact, an OLD game at this point with 10+ years of development under its belt. If trade is such a key aspect of the game, and its as outrageously awful as you claim.....then why are you here playing? And its not that trade has worked "a long time ago": its that PoE Trade exists in the form it exists in for many reasons. And it HAS undergone many changes through the years, but still exists in the same basic form because that is what the game wants and needs and is genuinely what the developers feel is the "best" form it can take within their game. If not, they would change it. Faustus was a GOOD change for modern PoE, and still people rail against it for not being easy enough. No matter what, the "trade argument" has no winning side. But the second you start saying a key aspect of the game you presumably like playing is outrageously bad and shame on the company.....you lost credibility and any sense of debate we could have. That's the problem I have here. And history and design matter: there is a rationale and reason that trade has remained relatively "the same" across that huge length of time. Someone coming in who doesn't care why or how....isn't going to offer much to alleviate any issues. I will also say, for the record, that the vast majority of "problems" people have with the trade system (pre-faustus) don't even exist: they are merely a product of folks who do not know how to use it properly. Whenever someone says "100 people don't answer" or "they try to scam" etc., its instantly clear they aren't using trade the right way. They don't understand value or search incorrectly, and whisper people who have items listed weeks old, or clearly not actually selling at a reasonable price, high or low. Of course they aren't going to answer. Now that certainly is a problem in-and-of itself, but its pretty much an unsolvable problem. No matter what the system, there will be scammers and price fixers and anything else that irks you. The biggest problem I have is that the trade website isn't directly inside the game: that's about it. I shouldn't have to minimize the game. Aye, I hate it when I make an offer and they don't reply, or I do and they don't read it, then kick me from the party and ignore me once they see the currency I put in. To avoid that, I now wait for them to confirm my offer before accepting the invite.
However, while trade experience ranges from quick and easy to absolutely miserable, for me personally the hands down worst thing about trade is the lack of offline trading. The amount of times I've had to abandon a project or simply quit the league because I was staring at the perfect items (often not even the rolls, just mechanical BiS things) that I couldn't get because the person quit... that is what drives me up the wall. And it's happening right now again. I'm staring at an item that has exactly the 2 implicits I need for an experimental build and the person listed it 2 weeks ago, which means they likely quit the league already. Like, fuck me, I hate this so much. [3.26] Poor Man's Ward Loop: https://youtu.be/9zC-Q6a_MwY

" No matter what they do with trading, this is the one thing I want them to keep; for the seller to actively having to accept an offer. That can of course be done in a plethora of different ways. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I think trade listings should be hidden if someone is mapping. When they're in their hideout they should be shown again. That way there is less risk of whispering someone who is clearly busy or invested in a juiced map for that 10c item you think you're entitled to.
My most hated game.
My most favorite game. Such is the duality of man. |

In Affliction I found Headhunter and traded it to a guy. He told me that this is the first time he ever saved up for one and was generally very happy with his purchase. Warmed my heart, tbh

I used to trade some uniques to a player for perfect gems. Afterwards we talked about what movie i should watch next and they recommended one for me. THis was ca 2008 and in Diablo 2 of course ;P
Very sadge that i even remember this moment but deep down i think i just opened those O Items N PGs games to have social interaction :( Chris Wilson must have had a similar experience. |
