I was one of those who defended this game for the past six months. But even my patience has run out.
PoE2 is currently literally unplayable due to server issues. The game is UNPLAYABLE right now. There's no content, no news, no teasers, and no posts acknowledging that you even see the problem. The game has been abandoned.
Meanwhile, the "dead" first game gets a league.
Where else in the world does a developer release a second installment of their game, abandon it, and instead work on the first one?
Is Team Fortress 1 still being developed? Is Smite 1 still being developed? Is CS 1.6 currently under development? Is Overwatch 1 getting new content?
NO. Because you don't need to keep dragging along an outdated game when you have an IDENTICAL new one that's already brought in a fresh audience. An audience you're betraying and spitting on because the game is IMPOSSIBLE to play due to servers, not to mention the complete lack of content and updates.
PoE1 is way different game from PoE2 and only because of PoE1, PoE2 exists, and most people want PoE1, it is not even dead, it was abandoned for months because of PoE2. We better would of had PoE1 for the rest of our lives than get it ruined by new game, since PoE2 is unplayable mess because of performance issues, and they won't most likely be ever fixed. Server issues is most important thing to fix, and they should focus all their resources on that and i hope they do, otherwise nor poe2 0.3 nor poe1 new leagues will be playable, and company will die. I don't care if 0.3 will be thrown 2 months later to release, i don't care if poe 3.27 will be thrown 2 months later, EVERYONE NEEDS THE SERVER ISSUES TO BE SOLVED. NOTHING MATTERS FOR THIS GAME MORE THAN THAT.

The most ignorant people are the ones most convinced of what they say.
Jonathan explained DDos attacks are responsoble for the server instabilities. Now who could be responsible for those attacks?
Abandoning POE1 would be very stupid. To alienate its loyal 200k players instead of trying to keeping them.. how good would that be?
Also GGG have said they plan to update the game every 3 month. So that's what to expect.
Good points ty. Do you know where they acknowledged ddos issues for previous or current server problems?
I too wonder who is attacking.

Don't make me laugh. That's like playing DotA Allstars when Dota 2 exists. In every way poe1 is different, it's just worse than poe2.
Supporting the previous version of the game after such a huge leap forward was incredibly foolish, in my opinion. It's obvious they can't handle two games, so they should just move forward and finally focus on the second one. Fix the servers, for example.
Nobody's talking about shutting down poe1. It exists as a finished product, who's stopping you from playing it? Just stop wasting resources on its development when you've already made a new, improved version!
And fix the servers!!!!!!

The POE1 servers are having issues too bro. If they were able to fix the servers, it would be a fix for both version, so you're conflating two separate issues. Unless it is the case that instead of DDOS, the servers can't handle the load of both games - which could be why GGG is so quiet about it.

I totally understand the player based of POE1 and that just want to play it and all, but I totally agree that it is so foolish for any studio and even more so for one with limited resources, to remotely think they can keep on with both POE1 and POE2.

Why? There are plenty of companies that manage to do just that. Some smaller and some bigger than GGG. So I don't see some inherent reason why GGG wouldn't be able to do so as well. They have stated in some of the recent interviews on how they want to tackle this with the upcoming updates, so let's just wait and see what the results are before jumping to conclusions.
As a side note:
The primary thing that I didn't like about the server issues was lack of communication. People do plans / purchase decisions etc. based on such info and it's kind of annoying when it's hidden in some random interview.
However this time they made an official news post on the website and hopefully that helps folks (I moved my august vacation because I don't want to assume that it'll be solved for 0.3, it's already been going on for 2-3 months without much progress).

I would believe "DDoS attacks" if they lasted only a few minutes
But it's been going on for several months? Since DDoS attacks are expensive, if it really is a DDoS attack for several months, it would be considered a criminal offense, and the police would have already been investigating. And the issue resolved already
Jon loves to troll, he also loves candies "The EA for PoE 2 will last roughly 6 months"
Sir, you have dropped your hat

PoE1 is way different game from PoE2
This is the furthest thing from the truth people keep saying about these games. Anyone with playtime on both can easily see the entire game was ported over re-assembled and given a shiny new coat of paint.
The most honest title would be Poe 1.5

this, you only have to watch this build showcase video to realize it
it's the literal same gameplay, dare i say, it's even worse, screen wide explosion is the NORM and EXPECTATION in poe 2
sad truth
but hey, what ever makes players happy right
it's important for GGG to remember that the game was well received, when everybody was still FIGHTING mobs (and not the screen) during Act1

Plenty like who and which games exactly?
Don't be naive, look at facts, Jonathan himself admitted its only the same 5 devs that can do balancing between the two games.
Come back to reality, this is not working in current state of their organization.
There was a video on youtube explaining that GGG can't even hire properly because of NZ law and foreign workers policy.
