Its not cheating. I don't play hard core but HC players have been logging out to avoid death for a very long time now. Its part of the game if you like it or not. I don't like it... but I also don't think its cheating.

That being said I will for sure be using the pause feature to do stuff more important that the game like let my dog out instead of just logging off.

I think you should check definition of "cheating". Just because you dont like doesnt make it into cheating.

Oh no features from poe2 are coming to poe1 this means they are planning to replace poe2 with poe1 I won't support poe2 anymore!

arpgs are casual games.

Who cares if it has pausing. It's not like the games takes massive skill that is going to disrupted by a pause.

A proper logout macro wouldn't just alt+F4 or automate pressing the logout button. It would forcefully close TCP ports and make sure to minimise logout lag (when your char is in a limbo) due to cleanup (freeing up memory etc.).

Logout macros run counter to the spirit of HC. It would be like playing golf and if you were in the middle of a swing and a huge burst of wind came along, you'd stop or swing and not hit the ball and claim it was unfair that the wind gust happened. Then swing again and not count the first swing.
