I wanna buy more packs and microtransactions...

But I need to know PoE1 is still being worked on and still alive. I want to continue supporting this game (PoE1), but need to see signs of life first.

Please GGG, throw us a bone or something.

I'm assuming there'll be a league at some point next month given they've started putting out the occasional social post on Reddit (one, two). It'd be nice if their own website got some attention - Bex used to post teasers such as this here in General Discussion...

It's still alive, as 3.26 is coming, the latest teaser was teasing a name reveal this week. What happens after that? We have no clue. GGG are VERY reluctant to talk about PoE1, and flat out denied to talk about it in some interview, even though they were asked. Why? Because they probably even don't know themselves, and don't want to promise anything.

I definitely won't spend a dime until:
- We hear something positive about PoE1
- Get some clarifications about the longevity of PoE1
- We see just ONE developer talking passionate about PoE1
- We see solid work in terms of a quality league.
- We get a promise that the PoE1 league schedule is back to normal
- We get more than just content (as in visual/mechanical upgrades)

If we turn back time 1 year, none of those points was an issue. Now? Realists will probably call it naive to hope for two of them.

My issue is that there's no way to know even if I spend money, if it will really go towards POE1. Like, I know this is a dream, but I'd love to be able to click a box that says "Go towards the funding of POE1" when I buy something.

I think I'd be opposed to that - just because it would be, at best, misleading.

Money is inherently fungible. The absolute best case scenario imo would be if they track the number of supporters & the combined sums allocated each to PoE 1, PoE 2, and 'no preference', and occasionally refer to those metrics in meetings. GGG doesn't have a PoE 1 bank account and a PoE 2 bank account. Realistically there's just GGG and the one pool of money they do have.

Even if GGG did have a PoE 1 bank account, a PoE 2 bank account, and a general purpose bank account, there'd be nothing stopping them from transferring €50 from the general purpose account into the PoE 2 bank account each time a customer spends €50 and opts to ensure that the money from their purchase goes into the PoE 1 bank account. (Or even a multiple, e.g. €100!) They would, strictly speaking, still be complying with and honouring the customer's stated preference. But it would, nonetheless, ultimately be utterly meaningless and change nothing.

One deliverable that GGG could give us would be to update the purchase flow so that it has an optional question "Which game(s) are you likely to play? [The original Path of Exile] [Path of Exile 2] [Both!]" It would be a way for them to solicit feedback and tie that to a proportion of supporters - and, separately, a total proportion of money being spent - but with the language being sufficiently clear that they're not obligated to act on your answer; they're just asking a question.
Its impossible to support just PoE. They will take part of it towards PoE Two just as big as part of the team they took to PoE Two... so all of it.

Of course there's no way to know that. That goes for ALL developers. You're not supporting PoE, you're "supporting" GGG/Tencent - and it's up to you to trust them to spend the resources wisely...

...Which is very hard these days.

What a weird situation. They had such a successful game (#1 of its genre) but Chris Wilson had to bring that "vision" nonsense that messed everything up. Do they hate winning and being #1? so they had to sabotage themselves?.
If you think Chris vision was sobotaging the game, go look at Jonathan vision in PoE two.

Please, why don't you elaborate on what you think Chris' vision really is/was?
