Beira's change in new patch - no longer crits at all. Testing under way.

So I wanted to see how the impact of the new patch which took away the beira's critical strike chance being garanteed.

the language in the patch notes is as follows:

under player changes

"Player changes"

"Beira's Anguish Dousing Charm no longer guarantees a Critical Hit if any amount of chance to be Critically Hit is present on the enemy. It now will roll Critical Hit chance normally in these cases."

This language implies there is a chance for Beira's to critical strike.

So i tested this on a boss. The boss had 3 million HP approx.

only mods on map is 50% resistances to map monsters and additional chests.

My first proc of Beira's did around 100k damage. So I can test around 30 hits against the boss.

Of the 30 hits, 0 resulted in any damage increase. This would indicate that at no time did a critical strike hit get applied in the approximately 30 separate hits.

In true GGG fashion no information of ability is supplied. So if this ability can roll a critical strike. What is the baseline critical strike chance? And is this ability considered a spell, or secondary damage?

Currently 25 to 30 hits with no change in damage is just a small sample size.

I do have over 129% global critical strike chance increase.

So I will test some more bosses to figure out if a critical strike can be applied. As the language indicates it now rolls critical strike chance normally. But if the critical strike chance is 0% then no amount of increases to critical strike chance will all this skill to critical strike.

If that is the case, which a bit more testing will confirm.

Then the recent patch was a nerf to the build of over 100% more damage.

Which is a mid league nerf of a substantial size.

I will be back to add a bit more data to this post.

I welcome anyone else to test the skill.

My current method is to get a simple map with no mods on it. Or mods which will not effect the boss damage it takes.

I proc the beira's 1 time wait for the damage ticker to stop. to indicate how much damage each of my ignites deals. Then I repeat and record the damage of the next hit. Ideally chose a boss that deals no fire damage so as to not have another proc go off randomly.

I hope to hears of other's results so we can compile it here to determine what GGG's simple change has done to this skill.

Cheers

Since Beira's no longer has an ability to apply a critical strike reliably, this would mean the damage it is dealing now is 100% less damage, in addition it no longer receiving any benefit from the ascendancy passive Grinning Immolation that provides 50% more critical damage bonus. Only the portion of self ignite is of benefit.

The change is closer to reduction in damage of 150% less damage.

This mid league change removed a substantial damage amount.

This is very disappointing.

thank you
Back to the lightning spear build instead of trying to make a fun interaction work I guess?

edit: for perspective, roughly ~900 Infernalists used this tech, and now 100% of them can't use their build reliably. Seems overly nerfed especially when there are 20000 Amazons using Lightning Spear and cookie cutter gear.

Np np.

Tbh, the 0.2.0g is insanely confusing to me.

So, the charm has a base crit of 0%, but you COULD get to crit it IF you apply base crit chance to an enemy, like "Critical Weakness"... BUT... they prevent the charm now from using applied crit effects... like critical weakness!?

Where is this information coming from? In poe2db is nothing mentioned and the wiki isn't a very trustworthy source.

The Thorns Crit Chance boots could be of help, if it's thorns dmg, but who knows
