Since GGG / TenCent Seem to HATE Melee skills with a passion they should just remove them.
Playing any close range melee in this game is an exercise in futility. Its not just that you have to get close and ES tanks are MUCH stronger than life tanks. (Because it makes so much sense to GGG that a Sorc is more tanky than a warrior). Almost every creature drops ground effects and often those ground effects are stacked. I just rolled a new warrior and upon getting to act 2 I am noticing I am going to have a big problem. I need to be point blank and the things in the castle are dropping stacked overlapping DOT pools that melee has to stand in but of course they dont have the HP to stand in them. I am recalling at higher levels that gets even worse, Any ranged character can just stand back and avoid all of that. Melee has to get in the monster's face and just stand in it. "Dodge it!" you say? I can definitely dodge it but of course if I do that I will have zero damage. I just tried another off meta build. I guess that is my fault. After all this is the lightning spear leagues.

finally a reasonable complaint unlike casual complaints.
in 0.2, you play one build, anything else is just not efficient and asking for trouble. they dont want things so OP but then LS is already OP compared to the rest. nothing makes sense. truly bad way of slowing the game/economy down. complete lack of common sense. `Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL

Frankly sick of trying this junk.in POE I used to craft interesting builds that weren't the meta but were fun. I thought of other builds that could possibly work in this game but the reality is that they won't. There will be some constraints that tells me, dude just play lightning spear or be gimped.
I can't believe I spent $480 on the biggest supporter pack. Wow. I let TenCent fleece me. On top of that a game I have loved for over a decade is now dead, no league in over a year, only the vague promise of one any time soon. They are famous for breaking promises. Everyone knows they are gonna kill it and few are playing. At some point I am going to have to just conclude GGG betrayed my trust, ripped me off and I will have to just move on. |

I think at least 90% of rare monster modifiers r designed to counter melee BD. Just wonder why GGG still keep melee skill available if they totally hate melee char. |

Played another melee build for a couple of hours. FoF huntress. Got even worse results.

" It's not Completely unplayable but getting any reasonable amount of defenses is extremely hard for anyone outside of smith. Also yes a lot of mechanics are exceptionally punishing for melees. But it's not impossible to do all content. It's just extremely tedious and requires an insane amount of patience and gear compared to just rolling any kind of ranged build. I would call my current gear pretty good and I still die on a regular basis. It's laughable that I currently can get 77% Evasion 1600ES and 1900hp And can't get a lot more without having to either invest an insane amount of currency for tiny gains or sacrifice nearly all my already low dps and path all the way into the sorc passives. While my Lich causually has 1620 hp and 7650ES not being fire res capped, having 0% chaos res. And still be more tanky than my Melee Huntress while also having the benefit of not having to be close range and therefore be at less risk at all times. Armor and evasion areas of the passive tree as well as armor and evasion need a rework. Es is the only reliable way to get a health pool big enough to not get one shot randomly. Monk is kind of in the middle where its relatively easy to path into Sorc ES and Huntress/Ranger ES nodes while also having very good defensive nodes itself. I don't know if this would be feasible but a start might to simply setting the hp increase by str from 2 to 10 health per 1 strength. This would give the classes on the south of the passive tree a much easier way of getting to similar health pools as the ones on the north. This would make recoup and leech nodes also a lot more attractive.
