is the drop system rigged?

lvled smith to lvl 92, got tons of saffire drops

lvling lich now, getting tons of ruby drops.

it does seem to drop the stuff your class does not need more frequently than what you actually could use lol

True rng would be: all items can drop at lv1 at the beach. All of them. Now every item has the same dropchance.
So true rng is out the window already.
They have, how did they call it, loot pools?
Busted it is :)

That is conflating two concepts. Of course they have loot pools and probably weighting. RNG = random number generator. You can have a generator that is truly random. Downside is if you can get a bad roll and have a lot of players some of them will get bad rolls for a long time by chance and game will feel utterly awful to them. What BG3 devs did is that if player gets too many bad rolls in a row the system interfers with a good roll. So it's not true RNG but the rolls _feel_ much more balanced and fair.

Great idea. Might not be good to implement that for every scenario, but I think this could work really well.
Sure, it is just about the fact that nothing in a video game ever has been really random. Exept maybe some 8-bit games. You get it, though.
to me it feels only stuff drops that you don't need for your character.

in pathc 0.1 playing a sorc, i got soooo many crossbows.
Now in patch 0.2 i play a huntress like everyone else, and i am getting lots of wands and staves.

without testing it, i think you need to have at least two characters, and you farm the stuff for the first with the second, and vice versa
Confirmation bias, set your loot filter to only gear for your build and you'll be fine
@OP the answer is yes.

Heck back before .2 I was telling friend that if you plan to play X class, instead start with Y class and you will get all kinds of gear for class X.

I firmly believe that it is weighted against usable drops.
