I actually had some Perfect Orb drop and pretty low-leveled too, I was like 75. I'm not using it tho, bounds me to a certain gem and I like to swap skills a lot, so better sell it I guess..
That's my main concern with this, in PoE1 I could just use socketed item on another character or with another skill, here I'm bound to a single one.

Are you comparing a "Zod rune" to an item that you are supposed to get in your early to mid-90s?

I'm comparing 30k+ hours of d2/d2r gameplay -> no crying
VS
100h of gameplay -> no 6L orb -> crying
do the ratio yourself.

I'm farming T15 maps and have 119% magic find. I have yet to see a single Greater Jeweller's Orb drop, let alone a Perfect Jeweller's Orb. I'm wondering if that's just my experience. By this time in 0.1 I had 2x Perfect Jeweller's Orb I dropped myself.
I think gem upgrade progression was reasonable in 0.1. But now in 0.2 I'm already in the endgame and still only on 4 link (3 socket) skills unless I trade.
You mean loot in general. It's all currency drops. ALL.

A Zod rune is not integral to each and every build in the way Perfect or even just Greater Jewelers Orbs are....if this was a single specific item that is nice to have but not mandatory in most builds like Zod it would be fine and you can just acquire it via trading if need be. But Jewelers Orbs is smth everyone needs for any class and build and sometimes even required to enable a build in the first place. Locking that behind extremely poor RNG is a bad design choice. Not talking about getting flooded with them but thinking of smth where we can get at least 1 perfect deterministically via a quest?

Well, i'm in a SSF guild and we are more than 100. LOT of us have dropped that orb. multiple times. like i said, bad RNG vs good RNG.
