Lightning is usually white, not blue…

I know it’s pedantic, but lightning is usually white in real life, not blue. Blue lightning in games looks extremely cheap IMHO, and I think it’s below the visual standard that PoE2 delivers.

Preferably it’d be adjusted to a beautiful white shading, but if needed: please let me buy an MTX that rids me of this sloppification.

Not sure if this is at all relevant to your design decision making process, but D2R also made this exact adjustment between the open beta and the full release, and the community has responded really well to the visuals of that game.

Would be great if this can be addressed one way or another.
Who says lightning can't be blue in PoE? Do you really think a world with magic, gods and demons has to be subject to our laws of physics?

Lightning can also be blue in real life tho. It can also be purple, red, and even green in certain circumstances.

OP might prefer white lightning but it is by no means a "law of physics" that it appear white.
Having bright white lights constantly flashing on your screen does not sound like a good time, honestly.

You will have your eyes flashbanged and you will say 'Damn that's some realistic lightning" every single time.

I think white lightning could be cool but the closer you go from blue > white the more an attack would look like cold damage imo. It's not like lightning really has a problem since most lightning things are lightning shaped though it's always good to think of the colour of attacks in relation to what element it could be.

It works fine in D2R playing a furyzon, which PoE2 lighting spear is inspired by. Also, in the original D2 graphics lightning is white. It works fine 👍

For context: D2R initially made lightning blue as well, I made a similar post there and they adjusted it to white. Would be quite epic if I’m the reason both games turn their lightning from blue to white 😃

D2 does not have a mechanic like delirium, where everything makes your screen white.

Do you really want even less visual clarity? Do we then wait for your post complaining that you couldn't see lightning stuff that killed you because it blended in with the environment?
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

I’m not sure why you’re making this so personal. I’m not complaining about visual clutter in delirium. Also, are you saying cold spells are effectively unusable because they are practically white already?

In my view, whether it’s blue or white, the level of visual clutter is the same and is a completely separate issue.

Lastly, you might want to try Project Diablo 2, which in my view is the best way to play D2. It has added many things from PoE, including maps. So yes, D2 can have tonnes of clutter as well nowadays, and no, the entire screen being filled with white skill effects has never bothered me 👍

sloppification.

I'm dying laughing. Lightning having a blueish tint makes it "sloppy" I'm assuming you mean? Or are you calling it slop, or garbage, because of a color choice?

Followed by "D2R did it, it went well, because I said so."

Any facts regarding how changing the lightning color in D2R drastically increased income? Or we just talking fee fees again?
