Experience gain after level 86 is the biggest garbage in the world. Game hates you

I spend 20 minutes to get 5% exp at level 90 and then 1 white mob kills me and steals 15%. I go back to him to continue clearing the map but he kills me over and over again and steals all the exp.

This is absolute rubbish

Agreed 100%. Its feels like 100x slower than PoE1.

There is really not point playing after lv 86 and def after 90. You just dont get any xp and any death sets you back half a day.

Last few levels are not even possible on normal maps as you dont get any xp anymore.

Level 100 is supposed to be a fairly hard stretch goal. Nothing wrong with that. There's not a single thing in the game you can't do at level 85 that you'd be able to do at level 100. Just update your mentality and it becomes a lot more fun. I had to do the same thing back in 1 and leveling isn't nearly as hard there. Once you hit around level 80, atlas and heart progression are the real goals. Then if you're good enough you can try to grind 100 if you really want, but outside of nerd cred it means nothing.

Completely lame response that's been regurgitated since release. People want to keep leveling and max out the skill tree, end of story. That definitely means something to a lot of players. It's a seasonal game, there is no legitimate reason to make it this ridiculous.

Exp penalty is just bad design. It might be tolerable if map tiers went into the 20s. Right now lvl 100 is unreachable unless you have a meta build with God gear and no life at all. That's just not fun for 95% of the players. It's the reason I stopped playing after hitting lvl 92 in 0.1 along with many others.

All I hear is "wah I don't want to invest any effort or skill in the game I just want free levels."

If that's all you hear then you lack reading comprehension and don't understand what actual skill is. Creating a meta build and spending 1000 hours clearing screens isn't skill nor fun, which is what the current design requires to hit 100.

That's the point. It's not supposed to be something everyone attains in 2. Just like it wasn't in 1. Over time I'm sure it'll change as more stuff gets added, though I prefer it not being a given that everyone reaches 100.

It's just such a weird thing to be so mad about to me. You can do literally anything in the game without it. If you want it to be a stretch goal it can be. I don't think it's remotely a bad thing for their to be stretch goals in games that 90% of people will never see. This is like complaining about the rarity of Mageblood in 1 to me.

Also the skill part is less about the grind and more about being able to not die repeatedly. Which isn't incredibly hard even with the weak defense in 2 atm. And exp loss on death is the part people complain about the most, when they can mitigate it with gear and skill and patience.

Top level is supposed to be something to achieve, yes; but it's currently not viable for a fun playthrough because the game is so underdeveloped. We could all abuse trade or just google an abusive build to clear screens, but those really shouldn't be the only limiting factors for level progression. That's bad game design. Players want a variety of builds and playstyle options for reaching level 100. Level 99 in Diablo 2 was always extremely limited; however, anyone could MAKE PROGRESS toward it. Being better, better gear, and player skill would only make progress faster. POE2 is just STRUGGLE STRUGGLE STUGGLE, with no reward, unless you're abusing the worst balanced portions of the game. That's why campaign feels so good when you PROCEED after struggling. Endgame leveling is just HOURS of frustration for MINIMAL gains, and sometimes losses instead. That's what real life is, but for a GAME we want PROGRESS & POWER for our fantasy builds without the masochism which is currently implemented through poor balance.

Well, was a bit off with my 4 month prediction. Came up way earlier than I thought.

Last season, I had enough at lv97. And believe me. If you think lv86 is bad, wait for the last 5lv.

30H campaign in snd season is a ok value for one char. Granted.

300% of that time to get to max lv is just a bad joke. Not even funny, though.

It sounds like this is more a complaint of the balance of class rather than anything else?
