Over 60% of players are playing "Lightning Spear". Where is the build diversity?

As the title suggests, and I guess the number will only go up to 70 or even more percentage.

I understand everyone gravitates towards the OP builds, but the build diversity in 0.2 seems even lesser than the "broken" builds we had in 0.1.


Absolutley not. A lot of skills got buffed. Most people just don't know that - because a) they play only new class b) they only follow popular guides.

End of story.


What class/build/skill you running? Hit me up with a char name id like to see your "unique take" as I am runnin something not the norm myself.

Sure, some things got better, but they do not perform where they should regardless....


The fact of the matter is, that 90% of anything meta is usually "Popular". I get your point ,bc alot of times theres a few "Diamonds in the Rough" but.....this season is VERY LIMITED on diversity.

I'm browsing poe2db spreadsheets and compare them to 0.1 spreadsheets (because I saved them). And a lot of skills got buffed x2 or even more, esp of warrior and merc. Some bow too, like chain lightning for example or poison ring. But who plays them? 70% = amazons, 20% = liches. And even for spear class there are tons of of powerful skills, and yet no one plays them because "lightning spear" (c).
So, no offense, you dont play you are outside looking in "theory crafting" but not battle proven.....

No offense, if you are just looking and not actually successfully proven, then you really shouldnt be saying how many viable builds there could be/are bc you dont technically know....
At least you were honest, and While i do agree there is room for growth, sometimes things look better on paper than they execute...I digress, and give you .2 patch...

I made poison pathfinder it melted t15 on Day 2 with mediocre 200-300 dam bow and 1 ex gear. But I'm not playing for more than a week now because got rl stuff to do.

I'm enjoying the "other" build, ed/c lich, only thing that cost more than 30 exalts was a +5 wand, a couple of items I'm wearing I found on the ground, so other than map buffing there's little need to currency farm

Clear speed is fine for how I want to play, which is to run a few maps after everyone's gone to bed

Tanky as anything, there are no overly dangerous mods and 60% curse reduction makes temporal chains doable

Volatile plants, not a problem, it's incredibly mobile

The only painful mobs are ants as they're an annoyance to pick off, they like to spread out too much and get in front of the dangerous mobs

Everyone complains about how the game is boring and not rewarding enough but gravitate towards builds that more or less play the game for them and complain when they get one-shot because they didn't do anything to mitigate it, or that the maps are empty because they're screen-clearing, or that acquisition of wealth is the only reason to play
Ive played Huntress to level 85 and I cannot make myself like it for some reason. The attribute stacking glee of last season spoiled me to the point where I wondering if I'll ever enjoy it that much again. I miss my Invoker.
They will look into it after they are done nerfing other builds.

And from my understanding in the Q/A and their recent patch update preview, it will not get nerfed.

Almost every streamer in SC is playing this build. After trying multiple builds over the past few days with Lich / monk / warrior and even bleed amazon, nothing in the game can match this, like not even close.

The build costs just 2-3 divine as of now to get started to blast tier 15-16 maps easily. If you want to do damage or clear thats even 1/5th as good as this on other classes, you need very expensive gear and jewels. What's the point in even trying to do other stuff?

I'm not asking for this to get nerfed, but could we perhaps have more SIGNIFICANT buffs on other weapons / skills? It's very demotivating to try and play any other build when we have the Spark/Herald screen blow-up back in a stronger form, which is also very cheap to get started.

Side note: Most of my friends who tried other builds like lich etc. already quit the game, the ones that are still playing and enjoying are playing LS, obviously.

Also, since everything else got nerfed to the ground, the difference between this build and almost every other build is EXTREME. I hope 0.3 atleast has some better build diversity. For now, I'm just going to wait as investing time to grind with any other build seems really boring, knowing you can just invest a few divines and reach god-tier abilities which you never would with other builds.

Edit: When I mean build diversity, I'm not expecting equal number of monk and huntress players. The issue is the gap in this specific build and 99 % of other builds. It's too wide and de-incentivizes most other playstyles. Cost to effectiveness ratio is unbeaten, and probably will be for the rest of the league.



Just because X percent of players are using 1 build does NOT mean there isn't build diversity.
