Spending 7 minutes on a boss only to die with them at 25% feels bad

Hi,

I’m on the Act 2 final boss and I died several times trying to kill him.

I am playing the new class Huntress. I chose the Ritualist ascendancy and have the Blood Boil node on the ascendant tree.

I have been trying to make a bleed build work, and while it is risky and takes a little time to kill most monster packs, it has been fun seeing all the enemies explode into a bloody mess. However, if a rare has any form of physical damage resistance, they will take a long time for them to die.

Anyway, back to Jamanra - I timed it on my last attempt and it took seven minutes for me to get him down to 25% health and that’s with using glacial lance after a parry so that I can have a snowy whirlwind around me the whole time. I’ve got a support gem that gives whirlwind 50% chance to cause bleeding as well. I put my best support gems on glacial lance and just keep chipping away at his health. I thought I had a decent weapon for the level I’m at which is level 30 and I just can’t kill him. I feel like I made a mistake choosing the ritualist ascendancy and I think I might just start a new character since we can’t respec...

Well; there’s my feedback.

Hermoglobin - lvl 30 Ritualist - 15 hours played. Going on the shelf for now.

Thanks.

Similar issues with Jamanra.

I've been playing an Amazon using mostly rake with herald of blood for leveling, which for me has been fairly strong on single target while still being able to clear, at least up until Jamanra; also tried switching to some elemental skills for that fight but they seemed even worse. The problem isn't so much how tanky he is though, I'd have no problem with a longer fight like this if every 10 nanoseconds he didn't immediately spin around to your exact location to hit you for 90% of your life, only taking breaks from that to turn 95% of the arena into either an instant death or near-instant death zone (and the latter might as well be instant death because it's not like we get any decent sources of life regen in this game). And of course if you somehow manage to sneak enough damage in to make it past the first half of the fight, the second half of the fight involves constantly evading even more bullshit.

I'm just really not sure where we're supposed to find the extra 50k armour/evasion, 90% all res, and +50% action speed we seem to be expected to have to be able to actually fight this bullshit boss for the eternity we're expected to fight him in act 2 normal. The action speed being probably the biggest problem. Why does he move so fast when we move so slow? Just a thought, but maybe an actual crafting bench instead of this far weaker and less flexible rune bullshit would make it easier to get decent defenses in the campaign by that point. Sources of life regen that provide some actual noticeable amount of recovery for these overly long fights might also help.

I also love that the protective bubble Asala provides when he does the wind bullshit in the first half is so easily missed due to the total lack of visual clarity during that part. I had to actually google how to get through that part to even find out the protective bubble existed, both during the initial release and now again in DotH because I had blocked out the memories of the awful campaign experience from the initial release in the interim.

As I did in the initial release, for the same reasons, I'm once again quitting in the campaign, in normal, and Jamanra is why. All the changes to endgame in POE2 don't matter at all to me because I'll never see endgame so long as the campaign is this fucked.

Update: Decided to give it another try with a different set of skills that allowed me to stay at range for the whole fight, still took a couple attempts, with the first of course involving dying when he was at about 5% hp in the second phase. Absolute shit tier boss. Will not be replaying the campaign for new leagues if this is the kind of shit I'm going to have to deal with every time; maybe, if I play at all, I'll stick to standard league and level with twink gear, but that's about it until garbage like Jamanra gets hit hard with the nerfhammer.

Jamara already in the original 0.1 had a bit too long of a fight... that I agree. The second stage specially could be somewhat shorter. It could lose some 25% of its HP .
Yeah, I forgot to mention why I was using glacial lance if I was doing a bleed build - it was because I saw Jamanra was weak to cold damage so I included it in my skill set thinking it would help.
UPDATE

I spent the past 12+ hours leveling another Huntress to lvl 31 (when I reached Jamanra) and I once again could not beat him. Even with the amazon ascendancy and while focusing on elemental attacks only. I even put on a crossbow with armor piercing rounds in order to break Jamanra’s armor and keep it broken during the entire fight.

Alas, I failed several times and then when I finally got him down to 5%, my connection started to get messed up, and it was lagging, pausing the game and lagging over and over and over again until it finally disconnected.

I think I’m done. I can’t fathom turning the game on again.

I’ll come back later when the game is a little further along. Maybe next patch if the Druid happens.

Peace.
UPDATE

I turned the game on again...
How do you think it supposed to feel?
The problem is campaign, and its getting fixed. If you cant do it yourself, ask for help or wait patch. Jamanra is gear checker.

What items do u have? Do you have sockets with runes? What you got for resists?

The problem is they are not building the game for regular people to beat it. No it's Act 2 not 6 Act 2 nothing should be that hard. I main SSF so I am use to have to just roll 24/7 fun game play I know right. Jonathan wants the game to feel horrible for the non haredcoreish players.

Just giving feedback on how I felt about it... I'm not debating on whether it should feel bad or whether it should feel motivating or if I should be praising GGG for the friction.

I don't know if GGG's intention was for players to get stuck on the Act 2 boss and have to go farm gold for gambling to get better gear or not so I'm just adding to the feedback telling them I don't personally like it. In a smooth progression of your first character in a season, you would think the drops would be good enough to get you through the campaign... you should have enough resources to make changes needed to pass those gear checks. That wasn't the case for me with my first Huntress this league.

I was playing alts for a while and had enough gold to fill my inventory on gambling for spear upgrades (about 18k gold I think) on my 2nd Huntress character (since I bricked the first one by choosing the Ritualist ascendancy) and I used rare currency to put a socket in it to give me even more of an edge. It was enough of an upgrade to get Jamanra to 5% before the game started lagging and booted me out to the login menu.

I think I did everything right. I know the fight. I didn't have problems with it in the first league and GGG's looking for feedback on their new Huntress class, so I don't feel like it's powerful enough in this instance. I'm not following a build guide, but I'm also not an idiot that picks random crap without thinking.

Peace.

*burr hugs*
I am also Huntress, amazon, bleed. I only went bleed because some other spear abilities didn't seem to even hurt enemies and someone recommended rake.

I mostly shelfed in Act 4 because I couldn't imagine going through the campaign again after how slow the first playthrough felt. After the changes it doesn't feel any better.
