What do you consider a slog fest?

But if his character sucks because there's nothing deterministic in the game that lets him build what he needs and he didn't happen to get a lucky drop it's going to feel bad.

Same thing if he's trying to build a character around an archetype that is part of the game but totally underpowered.

He's saying the game isn't fun, not that it's impossible or something.

Like I know what my build needs.

Getting it on the other hand is just effed
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.

Individuals in forums can only ever argue their personal opinion.

steamcharts.com on the other hand paints a picture made from data.
based on that data, only 50% of players returned for a second season.
based on the recent reviews, season 2 is rated considerably lower than season 1.

a hotfix 24h into the season reducing monster health pools also speaks more volumes than my opinion ever could.

Path of Exile ultimately is very similar to Vampire Survivor or an old Japanese Schmup. Explosions everywhere. Try not to die from epilepsy, sort your loot, then repeat.

PoE 2 partially wants to be isometric Dark Souls. WHich it is not, because Dark SOuls has a very tight mathematical base, while differences in DPS in PoE2 can be multiple orders of magnitude. This is where the slog comes in, especially on the lwoer levels.

Wasn't even 50%. They lost 350K from peak lol
Path of Exile 2....
I honestly don't want to play the story mode for 30-70 depending on the class. Getting killed in 1-3 hits from anything is also not fun. Most boss/ mini boss fights are in super tiny area's and have a ton of 1 hits. The mobs are 3 to 5 times faster then the player. The game should be built around the end game not the story. I play for the new season's not for the massive story mode.
What experience players have with this update seems to vary greatly depending on what you choose to play. I tried huntress first without any guides and didnt do any damage. Then i tried witch with minions, unplayable for me due to constant arbitrary fps drops. Next i wanted to go for warrior smith and the first act was an absolutely miserable experience. Every encounter and every minute of play feels like a chore.
Finally i started over again with exploding spear bleeding huntress and now i'm having fun in this new patch for the first time.
-maps being very long and badly generated with odd sticking points (especially in jungle maps) with slow movement, large unrewarding packs, and an expectation that you find 0-3 special areas in order to complete your progression while hiding the minimap from any further than you can physically see, leading to missed stairs and portals, etc.
-3 methods of breaking down items with their own menu or npc for each, requiring different click types.
-Respawning monsters on death
-constant updating of characters at start to deal with weak drops and weak crafting
-The amount of quests/events that involve physically going to one place and then to another, or worse, back the way you came from, flicking a switch and waiting, inserting an item and waiting, triggering a dialogue and then waiting...
-The inevitable re-roll when the idea you had doesn't actually work and some guy has already released a handful of builds that 1-2 button the entire game starting at act 2 as fast as the previous patch and you have to choose your form of suffering, meta slave or masochist.
-the pondering of vendor items or chore of regexing them.
-the voice in the back of your head reminding you that if you manage to drop about 40% increased rarity on your gear in act 1 the game will shower you with stupid amounts of stuff , and if you dont you are playing in some sort of alternate universe. I had like 45% and I was being showered in rares and orbs. In this regard, I am pointing out a hidden tax you must pay for one part of the game to NOT be a slog
-Combos always required, and also un-interesting. Most combos are not some amazing fun thing to write home about. Most combos are about the same as poe1 except we have to self cast the majority. If monster HP vs player damage balance is such that even the trashiest white mobs need a curse or exposure skill before being hit, it is about the same as using one skill but having to press 2 buttons to do it. it is not some form of tactical depth if it is always required to be optimal, and all that is required is repetition of a rotation. It's just a slog. And then there is gas arrow.
-trade.
