To the people who are saying spears are weak

There are people in shock and disbelief that the class/weapon GGG said would take combo interactions to work, works with combo interactions.

My DPS for just plain spear stab with no support gems - is literally 8x the DPS of that gem combination. How can you even say that?

Well the point of beta is to test skills, everyone running rake aint doin that.

I have been struggling along using Primal strikes, and honestly.....the skill SUCKS. The damage is good, assuming you enjoy not benefiting from shock....because it cant proc it. It's a single target skill, with bad damage otherwise.

making the skill able to generate its own shocks, would actually make the skill useable and fun. As it is its a huge setup, for basically no reward. Why bother using lightning spear to shock ( when primal eats the shock the shock lasts only a few seconds, the shock only helps minimally, and half the time your not even aiming at anything to USE the spirits ).

Or I can just use lightning spear and kill things 5x as fast and not have to deal with ANY BS.

I really dont see the skill being used, at all by anyone unless its changed.

Oh and its too damn slow to use anyways, its a crappier tempest flurry.

The issue I see so far, is by attempting to combo anything your dps drops into the toilet and you tunnelvision on the "combo" and die. The reward side of things is well....it does not exist.

Personally this happened to me in 0.1 - that I focused on the numbers before I focused on the utility. Once I forgot about that, I realized it's not that important. I'm still in the middle of Act 1 with huntress, but her single target skills have higher dps than her crowd control skills. But of course. One is for single difficult monsters, others for chipping away at a crowd. Rake for instance has low initial dps, but compensates over time with bleed, and can be improved with supports. I don't expect it to kill as it attacks. I use then a support that increases damage to monsters affected with bleed on any attack that fits after the rake dash in. Right now I used it on whirwind. Rake, whirlwind, hold parry, backflip, explosive spear.
Impatience is insatiable.
Early game yes the spear stab does have extremely high single target dps but zero AoE.

By midgame it will most definitely fall short of other combos and you will never touch the basic skills again.

Wow. ONE skill! EVERY skill should be viable, but they're not.
100% of people saying spear is fine are using rake / brut / stomping ground.
