Huntress is the worst leveling I've ever experienced...

Sorry, the theme of today is to be utterly ignorant and completely inept at the game, then be angry that it doesn't make you feel good because you're utterly ignorant and completely inept, and complain about how badly you want to be coddled, because you're not intelligent enough to know games have been dumbed down to the lowest common denominator for the last 20 years the syphon as much money from the most -- and dumbest -- people alive, instead of actually trying to make a game based on game design. In one week there will be enough "worthless" low level uniques and gear floating around for effectively free that even the most incompetent player can be geared enough to facetank bosses, but since that isn't going to be the case in the first five hours of release ... WWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I WANT MY ANIME AND STREAMERS TO SOOTHE ME.

Who thought it would be a good idea to make almost all of their skills dependent on frenzy charges? lmao

Yeah this is what makes it so frustrating to level as a Huntress it requires the downtime to gain that charge, and the pathing of disengage coupled with parrying / blocking being subject to input buffering for movement so that you end up moving a bit before the block happens makes it frustrating to get that parry off.

In addition, the bigger issue is with bosses... The first act boss for instance is a good example of this. You can block and parry his first phase which makes the battle run smoothly. But when it comes to his second phase most of his attacks cannot be blocked or parried which in turn shut down so much of your damage and make the second phase far more slog just because your damage is gated off effectively since most of his attack patterns are projectiles. The first phase can be blizted through in just a few seconds with parries and storm lance.

This in itself I feel will need to be looked into for Huntress because it shuts down the gameplay loop easily.

huntress isn't the spear class, and no class is associated with any weapon, that's just diablo 4 mentality

spears are obviously based on combos, charges and crit, which simply can't work at low levels, quarterstaves are trash at low levels for the same reason. you'll never see a good player start monk leveling with a staff

Dude, its the f**kin item they give you to start the f**kin game for that class.

That is just horrible horrible game design.

I get PoE is known to allow caster archetypes to wield a big sword, or melee types to shoot lightning arrows, but for the starter experience, they give you a spear for a reason. Any reasonable person would be like "hey, im a spear type class, they gave me a spear, so i'll use it. Oh, and hey, they are giving me spear skills to choose from in the intro, so i guess im supposed to take them to do optimal damage to get through the campaign."

If the first thing a player has to do is go: "hmm, i see they gave me a spear, but the moment I find a bow or a sword, im going to equip that because thats the best way to level".. if thats the first thing a player has to think when they start this game, im sorry, but thats just bad game design.

For all the D4 haters on these boards, and the general hate they give blizzard, D4 actually does quite a bit very very well. It lacks meaningful endgame, but the game doesn't feel like shit to level into paragon levels, unlike PoE2 getting to maps.
Couldn't disagree more, though I am playing a hybrid between Witch and Huntress while leveling. I've thrown my buckler on the backbar and grabbed a scepter. Now whenever I need a frenzy charge my minions poof in order to make sure the enemy hits me and not a skeleton, parry, disenguage summoning my minions back, enemy is distracted again, up one frenzy charge, chuck an empowered spear and on we go.

Juggling unearth and the whirlwind twister combo is really fun when getting swarmed. Turns the tide of battle against a dense mob pack in a way that's really satisfying.

I'm glad you like playing mental gymnastics to get anything out of the new class. Nothing can be straightforward in this game can it?

Quite frankly dude, I haven't the slightest clue what anyone could possibly have found riveting about leveling in the last "season" of PoE2. Playing this game before you get a bunch of potent synergies between skills, passives and gear is boring as all hell, and it causes the game's jank to really show.

I am enjoying myself immensely relative to what it was like leveling my monk last season. In absolute terms, sure it's meh, but I'm holding out hope that things will continue to get more interesting from this much-improved baseline that leveling a witch+huntress hybrid is providing me.
