And to make the whole thing even more confounding: The first leagues GGG added to PoE 2 are fucking timed leagues. You know, the mechanics that encourages taking risks and playing fast to get any semblance of reward. And it's not something you can just ignore, a good amount of map sustain comes from these leagues.

This is a huge conflict of interest.

Does GGG want us to play slow and safe, or do they want us to be sub-60-second map blitzers?




what i personally find weird, is this idea of over punishement in this game
-1 portal chance
-1 hit death
-1 chance at ubers
-1 map ruined (from 1 try failed from 1 miss-timed dodge)
-1 try at (forced trials) for ascendancy
-high XP cost on death
-extreme high damage from clusters of monsters and bosses
-no movement speed on any "good boots"
-no vendor upgrades if your stuck and cant level so no item resets
-no good loots in SSF
-broken Market (will be as broken in every economy resets)


so what do people do ?
the most logical thing there is to do....

find the most exploitable broken builds in order to overcome all that

then in the stream... they say they are desapointed that ubers and pinacles ended up getting one shotted from broken builds

THEN in the end of the stream what did jonathan say?
"We can not wait to see what broken builds people will come up with"


this, to me makes as much sense as OP's post...




For the 4th trial I paid a div to complete, along with many others. I didn't even attempt it just to save myself the headache. They wanted players to challenge their character to max ascend yet we can just very easily bypass their annoying content thanks to no lifers with broken builds.
I'm not going to "compromise" I am going to demand 6 portals or just not play the game.

It's that simple.

As far as I understand...

You can die once...
You can leave 6 times using the portal

If you start a map boss, you can only reset and restart near boss by the checkpoint (if more than 1 death possible)

It got confused, but to me it's not overpunishing.

I like being diferent from poe 1.
As someone said... don't like being it diferent, poe1 still going full (when they put poe2 in a "good" state)

Poe 2 is not poe 1... let them have some differences

Let's see that ingame how it goes. They might fix that fast on patch release.

According to the Livestream, the same portal rules apply and they were discussing if they should change it to portal disappears on death.
New portal system is worse for the players who played endgame more than 2h and gave up. If you made it to T15s and did the grind, all that just became a worse experience due to single portal. No trading, no multiple inventory trips, etc.

I won't be playing with this new portal system in place for sure. But I also don't want it reverted to single death and 6 portals. It just isn't fun.

They are just going to drive away players with this garbage. Eliminate the extreme death penalties and just give players with less than x amount of deaths some pretty cosmetics for bragging rights. Even 2.5% exp loss on death + 6 portals would be tolerable, but they just can't settle
Agreed, they also said they will be implementing a way to use multiple portals if you don’t die so you can loot. Hope they add it by launch day

They will not drive away players. PoE 2 has been an incredible success, even in its barebones 0.1 state. Players like you quitting the game mean nothing, no supporter icons and private profile. You are the minority, because your take on the death consequences is bad.

EDIT: I think I misread your comment, that you were talking about IF they leave it so that you literally can’t leave the map. YES I agree that would be insane and might actually kill the game. However, they said they want/will change that, but they weren’t sure if it will be in 0.2 launch. Which would suck balls.
