Why do we need to identify new items?

I do believe quality affects your odds at unlocking new high tier modifiers, and assuming that's correct, upgrading quality earlier rather than later could increase odds at an overall better item at the cost of higher risk at wasting currency.

Maybe. But also there are tiers for rare items, and higher tiers rare items have better modifiers on average, than exalted blues. It kind of compensates what you described, even if effect you described exist.

Fair, I forgot about those.

Back on-topic, I feel like all rarities have their own viable path to success.

Also, if nothing else, I like the identification mechanic because it's useful for item filters. I can pickup unidentified items, identify them, and drop the bad ones on the ground – never to be seen again :). Allowing me to check items and ignore the bad ones easily without any clutter.
Even if they really want to keep identification mechanic, they can at least still allow loot filters to see mods of unidentified items and filter them out. Then you would know, when picking up unidentified item, that it has something you want, would be even more fun to identify them this way.

Yes, this is absolutely rudimentary mechanics. Of course, you can attach a "bonus" to it, as for maps in poe1, but this does not justify its existence
Unidentified items are specifically there to stop filters from being too powerful.
As a filter can’t tell if the item has, say for example, top tier life because it’s unidentified you can’t filter out everything without this mod.

Where this info from? In the interview, Jonathan said it is so you can enjoy finding item twice — when you find it and when you identify it. If item passed loot filter, second part would be more pleasant.

This is true, but with a number of nuances

Starting from the moment when you start getting items frequently (and it should be like that with such a randomness) and using the market, all the things in the game become garbage. Everything. 99% of unics are trash. 99.99% of rare items are worse than on the market and are not even suitable for sale. There is no joy in getting an item. Not under these conditions.

There is an annoyance that the sorting of this garbage cannot be simplified by a filter.

It is true that filter become necessary in the game when everything is show to the players, if they like to keep that way is just a matter to auto-identifying the item when we pick it up. And even if they just reveal the items on the floor and filters become something powerful, it will be a problem? When the game as a lack of "drop" like we are having it will just make the game better, if everyone start to use filters(most of us are using it) we will see a increased of good items being founded, which will help the situation and people will think less about checking every shop in the game in hopes of finding a good item.

Sorry but, someone really feels joy from finding a item unidentified on the ground? I only feel joy when dropping a unidentified unique, and even then i already know which unique it is, but to be sincere i do finding joy praying to god when identifying a unique hopping for a good roll, so maybe the system should be keeped for uniques?
Items drop identified > people set filters to show only good mods > all good gear goes down in price > getting good gear for character become near effortless because tons of good cheap gear > you quit early because you maxed your character in no time, unless you one of people that going to grind for days for 1% dps and then quit anyway
