I'm worried GGG took our money and ran
Its sad the amount of people willing to defend companies for free. Stop being mean to the people who sold you a promise and then PTFOed! Stop being mean! They are crying and can't work!

I feel like people would understand delays for a game in Early Access. POE1 is a finished game tho and is what got GGG to this point and to just place it aside for so long feels pretty bad

" Except...its not. The whole point of PoE 1 "leagues" is that it is essentially a brand "new" game every few months. That's why people keep coming back. We have no idea how much work goes into that. It's obviously less than a FULL game from scratch, but some of these leagues have an insane scope and breadth. I think people do actually grasp this fact and know that a new league isn't a simple process just because "the game is finished". GGG also knows that a half-assed thrown together waste of a league can be even more detrimental to their credibility and the longevity of a game than a one-time long delay, the first of its kind in 13 years. Poe1 reddit has links to ggg whistleblower chat, everything lines up now.
Topic name is actually spot on, this was the actual game's direction. |

You'll find out when the game stays in EA for another year and people continue to snap up keys...

" GGG also promised us that there won't be more impact beyond the reduction of the PoE1 crew that happend quite some time back. Now we're here. And we do know how much work goes into a League, pretty preciseley as well (comparatively). It takes around 3-5 Months of work for a league with the skeleton crew. Without a crew it takes forever. Of course it's not as simple as "just do this and we've got a new league we can play". But that's the main issue here. There are a couple of quick things they could do to appease some of the PoE1 players. Like Mayhem, that should be comparatively fast. But Jonathan just told us that they haven't even started yet on the new league. We know (from GGG themself) that they start development of the next league before the realease of new league. I've no idea if that changed with the swap to the skeleton crew. For the sake of argument let's say they still do that. That means GGG pulled all PoE1 ressources for 3.26 somewhere before or around the release of Settlers ... in JULY. Otherwise they would've at least started with something and Jonathan told us there's nothing. So in the best case and 3 month of development starting right now, it's an April League. But he also told us ... they're not starting now, so there will be no new PoE1 content for around a year and most likely more then a year. |

The real concern is not anything that this thread brings up, because the OP is a pathological liar incapable of starting or carrying on a real conversation.
BUT PoE 2 was announced in 2019. Presumably it MUST have had ideas and some kind of minor develop prior to that announcement (there was gameplay footage, albeit basic). What in the world has been going on for SIX years that there are so many fundamental flaws in the design? Even with the 180 in 2022ish when they separated it into a standalone....that shouldn't really have required a "restart" on the entire development. There are many valid points about "borrowed" things from PoE 1: league mechanics, skills, supports, some itemization, etc. But....why? I would have rather had a small EA, with basically NO crossover with PoE 1 content. It seems to go against their rationale for splitting the games. Do we REALLY need ritual? Are breaches REALLY necessary? The time they spent implementing those could have been spent creating brand new mechanics, or at the very least more map bosses. Starting anew....with PoE 2

" Not disagreeing with most of the points you made, you are totally right. I was only pointing out the faulty logic in the quoted post. PoE 1, when it comes to new leagues, is not a finished game. That's the very essence of leagues. But look...it makes fundamental sense what he said in the video: running 2 games at once is a completely brand new experience for them. And they've had the equivalent of little more than a typical "job training" amount of time to figure things out. Sadly, what could have gone wrong....did go wrong. That isn't to say that there aren't things they COULD do. I wrote a post (but never actually posted it apparently) yesterday saying they should run EVERY SINGLE week long event they have ever done, except for 3-4 weeks or longer because presumably those hardly even take more than a few clicks of a button to make happen. They require no balancing, no additional content, no added skills. People wouldn't even care if they were absolutely bonkers insane power creep or lack thereof. It's just something at least a little new to pass the time. The one point I disagree with from your post is the whole "skeleton crew" nonsense. This was popularized by forumers and uninformed streams. There was never any skeleton crew working on 3.25 or earlier leagues. There may have been a few less people (even that I tend to disagree), but what actually happened as per GGG, is they hired a hell of a lot of new personnel in 2019-2022. Like almost doubled their studio. Not once did GGG ever say they were operating with less people on PoE 1. A skeleton crew wouldn't have been able to pull off Settlers. Arguably one of the best leagues of all time. Compare that to some truly awful leagues from the past with, what you think was, a "full force". " Well the skeleton crew thing is more a reference to a reduced crew size from before (which did happen, we were told that), by me in those posts. And I will refrain from using that terminology in the future in regards to the reduced crew size. (I'm sure there will be a more posts of me over the next couple of days, including my final feedback of the PoE2 beta) Skeleton crew is just the name that stuck around. Is it a real skeleton crew? No, a real skeleton crew would just keep the game running and wouldn't been able to create no content. |

" Yep it was true , but was what he said back then really that surprising ? "My CEO is a shortsighted liar who only care about selling MTX" -can be said about 99% of the gaming studios "Go buy a supporter pack and I might take you seriously." ~ Generic PoE whale
