Almost All Rediculous OP builds can be solved by simply removing all triggers.

Almost every single super power blaster, screen wipe, boss trivializing build is based on one thing, triggered skills. These are the foundation. Whether from a unique interaction or a unexpected interaction with gems, triggered skills lead to blaster builds.

Some things perhaps should trigger a skill but this can be best handled with the passive tree. For example "trigger minions explode on death".

If GGG doesnt want its pinnacle bosses to be one shotted, get rid of these. Yes a bunch of people will complain because you took away their "i win" button but we will back you with the same thing they say to us, "Sorry its EA." :)

Triggers and automation feel like things designed by someone who is not working on the same game as the rest of the POE2 Dev team.

Like "I don't know what anyone else is doing but I want my build to shit out spells and not have to do anything, so I'm putting this stuff in because I want it"

Meanwhile some poor guy in a broom closet spent 6 years making Mace skills that require the player to complete a captcha or they get stunned out of a 5 minute long wind up composed of spinning their mace around their head like a cartoon character complete with sound effect making a boink-ski-di-boink-ski-di-boink sound.

Seriously... Engaging combat can't have automation and effortless gameplay. Neither can it feel and look like Wiley Coyote spinning legs in mid air just off the edge of a cliff.

collapsing your own design space: GGG since 2013
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

OMG I laughed hard at that.
Aye. Trigger builds are a blight to balance and visual clarity. While they can be cool they also need to be heavily restrained or this game is cooked.
They need to either eliminate triggers entirely or heavily moderate what can be used in the trigger. It should be a supplemental action not the entire build
Trigger / Automation are what people want to play. Exactly like in POE 1, where everything gravitate around 1 button build.

Im actually playing a zero button build atm with an occasional weapon swap if my chain gets broken because of no nearby monsters :D

Edit: If u consider "mouse 1" for moving around as using a button then yeah im actually playing a 1 button build too

So true. I'm playing blink temporalis choir of the storm with trampletoe. It's absurdly OP.
It is clear from the design of triggers and skills and enemies that there is zero intent to have interesting gameplay.

Just think about one try per pinnacle boss. I know they are changing this, but the fact that they put it in says they have no interest in players engaging in boss mechanics.. because there is no reason to confront a 1try boss with a 30-100 hour retry grind, until one is massively overgeared.

XP loss (which i dont hate) does the same thing. Why take a risk and engage something hard, when the game will punish you for wanting to be challenged.

POE atlas is like an economy in deflation..there is no point in taking on any challenge encounter, when it will be easier tommorow than it is today (with more levels, gear, power)

In order to fix this, they would need to not only remove every trigger gem.. but also restructure the endgame around unlimited boss tries, no XP loss, and endless difficulty scaling of bosses.. so there would always be some content that is not trivially easy.
its absurd to say they don't want people playing because if people don't play they don't earn money. The triggers are put in to encourage interesting builds but they are just something that doesn't work in an engaging game as the interractions are almost impossible to predict. Its EA. Pull them.
