Build the auction house. So many posts on this, including other posts I've made.
The problems with the trade site are so bad at this point. Last bumped on Jan 19, 2025, 2:29:02 PM

" "Trade is perfect, Path of Exile doesn't need an Auction House!" |

" This. They are probably price fixers 99% of the time 1% are busy doing maps or being bought out already. If you sent so many, try going up a price range. You'll start getting results as they set the price so low to trick people into doing the same and buy them out while listing it higher elsewhere. i dont care for an auction house. the one in d3 was a disaster. i would like to access all of the trade site features while still in the game. just make it a window at an npc similar to the currency exchange.

" Thats a big ask, do you understand the power of the trade site? |

I do believe are in the works of adding a buyout from stash from the trade site. So instead of having to whisper, you simply just buy the item directly on the trade site for a gold fee.
The sad part is that this will most likely end up making the trade botters snag everything due to live trade filters. So even though the idea of an "auction house" is nice, everyone's going to be right back here whining about the problems of auction houses. |

not saying this is a defense...but did you do all the basic steps BEFORE starting those 427 whispers?
1) Limit the search to listings within the last day 2) Scroll to the middle of the first page of listings before starting your whispers 3) observe the price trends and the outliers without exaggeration, I don't think there has ever been a trade that has taken me more than 10 whispers to complete. And usually its within 3. I see these kinds of posts pop up and it makes me genuinely curious HOW you are using the trade site. All that said, they could make so many improvements to trade, without removing the "friction" they desire. If an AH is out of the cards (it should be, AHs are terrible), then at least put an (shorter) upper limit on the listing time before an item de-lists. That alone could wipe out a huge chunk of the problem. Additionally, bring Faustus back in for stackables. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 19, 2025, 12:09:30 PM

The point is you don't have to do all these silly workarounds and shenanigans if there was an auction house.
At this point, if they're not going to make an auction house, I'm in favor of them removing live search and making it impossible for a third-party tool to recreate it. |

" We're talking about GGG here. Diablo 3 had an auction house. WoW had an auction house. GGG can make an auction house. It's not a big ask. The only reason there isn't one now is because they intentionally didn't want to make it. The trade site is more sophisticated than any auction house that's ever existed in a game, and they need to bring it in game and make it a traditional auction house. Why? Because the trade site is ripe for abuse and a terrible user experience. You don't have to worry about price fixers if their auctions can be purchased. You don't have to worry about people not responding if you can buy their listing. You don't have to worry about live search intermittently working if you don't need live search because you can buy a listing at will. You don't have to worry about being spammed due to your item showing up in live search for lots of people who want to buy it because they can just buy it. The list of reasons to make an auction house go on and on. |

" It's very easy to only look at one side of the equation. How about some thought given to the pretty obvious negatives of an AH? Here's a few: 1) The seller will be disproportionately screwed over upon making mistakes or not de-listing the thousands of items they may have. 2) Prices fluctuate rather rapidly, again disproportionately screwing over sellers and forcing a heavy burden on them to constantly and actively monitor their sales and pricings. And having to deactivate their entire market upon signing off, unless they want to risk having their items bought at an inappropriate price while they are NOT playing. 3) AH will naturally lead to faster trade, which will also naturally lead to faster inflation and other market disasters. 4) Searching an auction house in-game MIGHT be a disaster, or even impossible. For reference: the trading on consoles being downright terrible to maneuver. This might be solvable, I don't really know enough to know whether it is or isn't. But I do know you can't just slap the trade site mechanics into the game and have it just "work": the coding and potentially the entire language is different. 5) Price fixing becomes WAY WAY WAY easier with an AH. Buying up an entire supply of an item can happen near instantly, rather than through multiple steps and whispers and avenues. Personally, given those negatives and likely way more I didn't think about, I'm perfectly fine skipping the first page of entries and narrowing my search, if it means a healthier overall system.
