My brain, raised on casual games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, just turns off when I catch a one-shot after level 90.
Losing experience when a character dies is a good idea. But now we are losing too much. I can really level up all day and lose everything in one death (I’m not an e-sportsman, by the way) I haven’t checked for sure, but it seems like by closing about 10 yellow cards of level 15 at level 92, I lose almost all of this experience when I die. I’m still sitting on day 92, going through gear and builds, trying to understand why a warrior with a shield, 4500 hp and a cap of resists can sometimes catch one-shots even from rare mobs. " cause no developer ever, has designed something and then realized it isnt working and needs to be fixed /s games are often times changed, and this is definitely something that needs changed. people are complaining about it cause its not good in its current iteration. maybe completely removing it isnt necessary, but late game progression(around 90) is painfully slow and one death in a play session can lose all the exp you gained. exp loss on death is way overtuned and that's an objective fact. straight up, I have rage quit POE more than any other game ever and thats a lot of games.
But having said that "I quit playing that'll teach them" wont do anything. And is arguably just helping enable not learning from whatever it was the killed you (unfairly or fairly as the case may be). Granting that sometimes there's not actually anything to "learn" because of POE's many "confluence of bullshit" time till death ruining designs. I know how this sound, not trying to be passive aggressive again I also have rage-quit POE tons just relating that I've done the exact same thing... I do hope GGG comes to realize that the "engaging combat" game they made and the silly stupid pile of dumb that the endgame becomes are not compatible game designs. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4. If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. we should get more WAYS TO BUILD DEFENSES and not remove penalty exp on death. Game should be slower and more methodical and less spamable. To prevent one-shots or one-shots to be avoidable. They was inspired by souls-likes but they do it in wrong way.. like making DMC with one shots.

" Can you please list the defenses your build currently uses and why you think the game needs more defensive layers? Armor and HP are the two things that I agree do not scale well, but there are multiple other ways players get and I'm sure you're not using even half of them. |
