What kind of explanation Omens need? They are listed among tradable items in currency exchange NPC. It's not so hard to hover a mouse over them, is it?
Anyway the very fact that it exists, assumes that the devs did think about removal of exp penalty or changing exp penalty for something else. So, not impossible they will do it in the future, without all your whining.
Also, right now there is nothing to do in this game. Literally nothing to do, like completely. Why are you people so sure that the playerbase leaving due to exp loss, really? Maybe they are just bored? And speaking of it, it is waaay worse than exp loss for the playerbase. Uninteresting game is repulsive for the players by itself with exp loss or without.
There are new players who do not even know about the currency exchange, how to use it, and have never seen an Omen of Amelioration in a Ritual window.
Unless you played PoE1, you were never told about Omens and you will not have a single clue that xp loss could be mitigated for 55ex per death (70 pre patch).
A tutorial for maps that covered xp loss and the omen would go a long way towards players feeling at least empowered to mitigate exp loss.
I did play POE1, but have never done a single ritual (there was enough to do even without them) and had no idea about omens. All I done is exactly hover a mouse over those mysterious items. I was intrigued.
Speaking of their prices, early during the week they were often around 50-60 even pre-patch, during weekend up to 90. Good opportunity to buy a few dozen in monday-tuesday and sell in weekend :)

Maybe because other league systems will be introduced in further Acts ; much like Rituals were introduced in Act 1, for example.
they should let you pick an omen as a reward from the act 1 ritual so players know where they come from and associate rituals with omens. then the player can try using the omen they got, and also have an item to hunt once they reach end game because they saw other omens in the screen they may want to try

I'm one of these. I did a few rituals and never saw an omen; I honestly thought that stuff was a work in progress that would be added later. I was looking on the trade site at them, and when I saw this post I was like OH YEAH I did see them in the currency exchange. Is there a way to search the trade database within the game like on the website? otherwise how are players supposed to know prices without opening up a browser?
https://orbwatch.trade/ is the best way but seems to be showing 2 day old data at this point for some items.

Which wouldn't make much sense considering you may die a lot in the campaign for no reasons and without applied penalties (and don't lose XP for the Amelioration one) ; but I get your point.

I want to see this game have 1 million players. Even if I am not one of them. XP penalty alone will keep SO MANY players from staying and funding the game. Fact.
At the rate their going for it's going to be majoirity RWT and less than a 20k player base. Super cool. I also was bought by the "innovations" of this game to be bait and switched by late game.
Unfortunate the little goodwill they built up with their first showcase is not following through. I purchased PoE2 and I got some cobbled together mess of a game after campaign Act 2.
GGG seem hellbent on making sure this game is as niche as possible. I was recommending this game to many people when I initially played through the campaign. I've rescinded that opinion to anyone who was thinking of buying to just not waste your time. Classic games that have been around for decades do a better job at being a great ARPG like Diablo 2, Torchlight 2, and Grim Dawn.
I avoided PoE1 when it initially launched and continued to avoid it for very average interactions. It was Diablo 2 .7 at that time, and they dont' seem to still understand what makes those games fun to this day even a decade later. They're in the headspace of making a "nerd" game (Where you play 5-8 hours a day to have any progression) and not a game people actually want to play. These kind of games never had a place, even when they released. People played them because they were the only thing out at the time and they had online, never before done before. Everything here has largely been done. The most interesting aspect is how weapon skills are tied to weapons, that's it.
It's just not worth the time. The diamond is actually a quartz. No amount of polishing with how these devs work will make it into anything else.

Given that PoE 1 retains a dedicated following for over a decade, it's hard to take your predictions about the impending doom of PoE2 seriously.

I've played D2 around 5k hours. Other ARPGS less, and it's because their environments foster you playing more. Environments that punish you for playing don't. It's not much deeper than that. People love Wizardy, the 10 people who play it still. It's not a bad designed game, it's that general audiences don't want that experience.
Their marketing on PoE2 was great, and it lied. That's a large part is lying is not a great way to build up trust in a product. "We're not like POE1", no they are, practically 1:1, or close enough from my experience that it's dishonest.

That's like, your opinion man....
I don't find PoE2 punishing and I didn't find PoE1 punishing. I do find HC too punishing and after playing one league of that and getting to 89 I realized that I was flat out not having a good time when forced to be so cautious.
So HC isn't for me. That's ok.
I find neither PoE1 or 2 softcore even remotely 'punishing' - but then I don't center my progression around a largely meaningless xp bar.
If you do, then well, POE2 just isn't for you, because having that progress bar go back on death is a core part of the gear and skill check in the end game.
GGG never lied to you or implied that PoE2 would be more forgiving or that it wouldn't punish death.
I have no idea why you would have thought that, but there was no such indication in anything GGG said about PoE2.
Even ultra casual games like Torchlight Infinite have XP loss at high levels - this isn't a unique and outdated PoE feature.

Agree 100% over the opinion about the game.
But one thing you got wrong is: GGG is a company and all they want is to earn profits.
Let me tell you a story:
"
You announce that you'll open a new world maybe twice a year. Everyone creates new characters and starts from scratch. Everyone is even-leveled at first. A lot of players that hadn't played for a while come back to the game. A few months in and most players left again.
Reminds you a lot of PoE leagues, doesn't it? That's what Cipsoft does in Tibia, which is a 30 year old 2D game that has been frozen in time with outdated systems/mechanics. And Cipsoft still profits a decent amount from it. They were smart in sticking to what they know and monetizing the way they know works for their playerbase. The company didn't launch any other successful game in 30 years but they still have a very high profit/employee ratio.
GGG doesn't need PoE to be a huge live service game with hundreds of thousands of players. They can stick to what they know and still make a big profit out of it if they keep their team lean.
And they even got a nice bump in their revenue by surfing the hype wave and selling literally more than a million EA keys. They'll soon be back to doing their bread and butter and launching new leagues every 4 months and selling supporter packs with a sprinkle of FOMO.
The 250k players online you see now will probably be down 70, 80, 90% in a few months and that's fine. They make their money, whoever doesn't like their game moves on, everyone ends happy.
