Cant they just make the trade system similar to the currency exchange?
Instant trading without having to whisper anyone and wait for a response. The seller wont have to quit what they're doing to answer the 50 whispers or not respond at all. The seller will have to price the item properly and not fish for more orbs after the fact.
It would be faster and more efficient overall.
no, it would be terrible

I don't understand the "black or white, either/or" attitude here.
Yes, we absolutely need trade improvements. No, we absolutely do not need an AH. There are better solution in the middle of those two.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Simple question: when do you need to buy a fragment or some divines, what do you do?
a) Use the "instant" system that is Alva. Its some sort of an AH
b) Send msgs to anyone on the bulk trade site
The answer for item trade should be the same.
And no, Im not comparing different situations...
Edit. Plot is already being commented

As the currency exchange was introduced, the bulk trade feature was not removed. People now have the choice to use their preferred system.
I feel that the majority of players chose the currency exchange, but that does not really matter.
If GGG added an automated trading system, or even an AH, the same thing would happen: the old way of trading would not disappear and people would have a choice to use their preferred system.
Any argument against an alternative trading method would mean that you are afraid of losing participants of the old way of trading. But the loss of participants is already happening: the old way of trading requires participants to be online. And 2 months into the league this pool of participants gets smaller and smaller.
An automated trading system would allow you to trade with people that have quit the game 2 months ago. So it enables trades that were not possible before and takes nothing away from people who prefer the old way of trading.

Please GGG, don't listen to the tourists demanding an in-game auction house. PoE's trade system is unique from all other games and is far more enjoyable than all those games with auction houses. These new players just have to adapt to and learn trading in a style they haven't experienced before.
I already saw Jonathan caving in to auction house demands in the recent Q&A stream, he might as well have confirmed it after being asked about it because he said something like "we'll look into it".
PoE trade has all kinds of benefits and traits to it that do not exist in auction house systems. For example if you underpriced an item, you can change your mind about selling it for too little after getting spammed by countless whispers - in an auction house you would lose the item immediately.
Another is being able to set up live alerts and snipe great deals.
And whatever happened to your own decade long belief that trade has to exist this way so that people see other players hideouts, otherwise there's no point in hideout customization?
Don't add auction house, it will completely ruin the trading!
This is the wrong opinion. They absolutely should add an Auction House style trade system. If it doesn't work, then so be it, it can be removed before final release but now is the perfect, and perhaps only, time when it can be implemented and tested properly.

I want to sell my stuff cheap to those in need of better gear because i've been there and it SUCKS.
You know what else sucks? having to hang around in my hideout doing NOTHING hoping someone will msg me for something and as soon as I go do a map i start getting pings and i'm not leaving a map.
Just let me list it on an auction house so the stuff I find thats pretty good but I cant use can find a good home.

Which is what? Instant buyout? Player shops?
Constructive criticism means you offer an alternative rather than just shooting something down?
