Nobody is spending Divine Orb on Uniques that you "buffed".

For some reason we can't just have them changed for free, like you did with nerfs. All good things need to come with a negative.

Thanks for nothing.

Many like keeping "legacy" versions, even if they are weaker. If the new item is worth less than a divine, they will buy it again.

GGG has literally always done this when they change items. It is very very rare that they change all versions of an item without your control.

Way to completely miss the point lol.

Exactly my thinking as well! They need a better way to reroll their mistakes and make it be able to reroll corrupted versions as well! I mean cmon GGG!!!
Hang on to their legacy items when the entire league is going into the void when they reset? You realize EA isn’t going into standard league, right?
i just hope the refreshed osin will need to be acquired normally after the patch for the new change to apply, and all current osin will be kept as it is, with the "legacy" stats.

It would be funny reading/lookin at the aftermath lol
this is to do with how items work technically in the code.

most data we see on the item and how it works are pulled from the central databases, so when ggg change the databases the changes automatically apply to our existing items.

however some data is stored locally on each item. is there is a variable range og a stat like 10-15% the actual roll on that specific item is stored on the item itself, it has to be because each item is individual with its own rolls, quality, stockets, runes etc.

they cannot change the things that are rolled onto the item because this would mean scraping the entire database that holds every item that exists in the whole of the game which is a massive data base and any mis steps, corruptions etc to that database would risk the entire game, every item that exists.

so this is how it works, some changes apply to uniques automatically, some do not apply and would require the user to reroll the unique themselves (aka divine orb). its to do with what the technicals of the code and what actual changes are being made. its not a situation where they could do either just as easily and have chosen to do one over the other for an ideological reason.

this is just how it is and probably always will be.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Actually I understand that there probably won't be server wipes but "leagues" in E.A. so barring something drastic people probably won't lose current gear.

If it matters I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if there is an E.A. standard to exists even when PoE2 ver 1.0 launches.

Then again if they did a full wipe I wouldn't cry much about my own stuff.

Devil's Advocate: Earlier my assumption was that server wipes should be expected. Maybe I misunderstood something recently??
The main reason nobody is spending divines on the uniques that were "buffed" is because they all still look like trash just like in POE 1. Not sure which "builds" these are "enabling" but unless rares and chase uniques get significantly weaker or the uniques in game get significantly stronger (or scale the affix tiers based on dropped item level) then uniques in this game will be like POE 1, mostly unused trash that remains on the ground.

Yes that's exactly right. They don't keep them to USE them. They keep them (and their old characters) as memories and trophies. I still have things in my account from 2013 that are weak af...but they are very fond memories. I have an entire set of the "original" maps when they were first released. You can't even use them anymore. So what?

I am certainly not the only one. It's pretty much the reason the unique stash tab exists in the first place.

There will never, ever, ever be a "server wipe" that deletes all items and characters from existence. It simply won't happen. GGG has RARELY blinked items completely out of existence. They only do so if the mechanic involved in the item is just totally removed from the game (like Onslaught support on gear). There are a few exceptions of course, but very very very few in a long 10+ year history.

More likely, the characters will go into a voided league, and the gear will just be marked "unusable", kind of like how watchstones were/are. I'm pretty sure the void league thing was explicitly stated by Jonathan in multiple interviews prior to launch and after launch.
