Map Sustanability Test: Figured I'd give it a random attempt.

They're both true oddly enough.

Getting lots of T15s is easy because all you do is rush boss nodes and run boses with a 300% waystone drop map and have a fully built out atlas.

When you're starting out, your atlas isn't built out and newbies do not know to save good % waystone maps for bosses.

So that's where we end up.

I know they are, but I found it impossible to say that trying to sustain a lower level tier is annoyingly difficult through the noise of everyone shouting skill issue and waving their tabs of T15s as evidence

I get it, I have no issue sustaining T15s either, but lower tier sustain is valid feedback

Yeah I agree - but I think it's an issue of player guidance. Nothing in the game tells you - at least as far as I saw - "Go kill bosses for maps u dumb noob - and don't use your fancy map on a tower!"

Once you figure out the mechanics, it's easy, but it's pretty easy for a newbie to bounce off the end game if they are struggling to keep up with maps in lower tiers.

Maybe with bosses being made more common as well as required for progressing the 'quest' it will provide the necessary guidance.

In short, I agree that it's a real issue today for newer players, but I'm unsure radical changes to drop rates are needed as some suggest.

I do want vaaling a T15 map to produce a T16 more often than 1/8 though - even if just to give Alva a break for bringing in cart fulls of vaal orbs to my hideout.
By T8, players will also have learnt that certain map affixes can spell certain death for them - so try and avoid using those ones - but with sustain being so low you kind of have to run everything you get, and hope you don't die

So, they might not get any fancy maps at all for bosses on certain tiers without a trip to the trade site
Map sustain CAN be a problem if one is unlucky. At one point I left my last two T15 maps for two lvl 81 bosses, with +1 boss difficulty from boss atlas and with all waystone passives from the core atlas. Both of those bosses didn't drop a single waystone and I was back to like T12/T13 for the next two days of farming.

Bosses do not always drop waystones, let alone waystones of higher tier. If someone is on the unlucky portion of the spectrum it's really frustrating to progress.

After some time I got to the place where I'm getting way more T15s than I'm using and now they do feel like they're very common. I guess my "luck" averaged out however it was not the case at the very start of my atlas and it took me a long time to get going with T15s even tho I was fully specced for it.
