Well, guess the game was fun while it lasted.

Actually still cant login on my pathofexile account nor can i change my password. Apparently they changed my password. Only way i can log in is through the secondary steam account.


Was able to reset my pasword through the "Forgot password link", no matter, wont be playing again.


Wanted to add one other thing, been playing this game since 2012. Never hacked. Something is up.

Sorry, I don't trust any account that has been around since 2012 and only has characters made in Settlers league and not a single pack. Little sus!

Naughty naughty, someone didnt read all the posts...

If they were able to change your password, it means they had knowledge of the password as it is required to change it to begin with.

Your password is probably re-used from other services which had their account data stolen and they just tested combinations until found one that worked.

lol yes they can. Sadly, security is a trade-off between convenience and, well, security; and when confronted with that fact, many people will opt for convenience for one reason or another.

That's not to say there *isn't* a problem that GGG can/should address, but there is no doubt in my mind that something on the order of many or most players are using weak passwords and/or security practices.

You literally have to verify your email when you log into a new account.
Sucks if you're a victim but sucks more if you are a troll/pred.

A "hacker" would need your password to change it.

You got phished or reused a password that got dumped in some DB.

So, you think that alternate websites were hacked, the leaked password data was put on the darkweb, and wannnabe hackers used that info to contact people in POE2 to get their in game currency instead of something that has actual real world value like bank accounts or medical info?

I mean, I guess conspiracies do exist on some level, but I usually try not to be too conspiratorial without evidence. Personal experience suggests they usually try for significant accounts linked to other accounts.

And as far as GGG is concerned, the game state is already fragile. People don't usually announce strategies or fixes for hacking because the hackers just exploit that information to get around the fix and continue their dark business.

They should announce that they are looking into it, and that they will do their best to compensate people affected by it. You can't exactly blame the account holders for a breach in security.
