Storyline skip
|
As a returning player who has spent 1200 hours in PoE 1, I believe that PoE 2 needs a way to skip the storyline. I know this is a controversial topic, but I think forcing players to repeat such a long storyline every time we create a new character in PoE 2 is simply a bad idea. The storyline blocks a significant majority of the game's content, and many players don't have the time to spend 20-30 hours to get through the storyline and reach the actual game content with each new character.
I want to emphasize that I am not advocating for any kind of shortcut or easier start. I'm talking specifically about the possibility of leveling from level 1 directly through maps so that every player has the choice of how they want to play. Let each player decide whether they want to level through the campaign or freely on maps, doing what they enjoy. I would love to hear others' opinions on this topic, especially since this issue has already come up in PoE 1. Last bumped on Jan 5, 2025, 6:34:19 AM

There is no way that you're suggesting stupid D4 type of system where u could skip the campaign. This is PoE, we don't skip anything, we find ways to make it quicker with leveling gear and efficient campaign clear. You said you have 1200
hours on Poe1 ... uhm 1200 hours of doing what? |

I think part of the fun of a new league is the first day rush/competition to reach endgame.
Plus right now the story/campaign is actually the only real content in PoE2. Endgame needs a huge amount of work. |

That's my point, give everybody choice, it's stupid for you? You don't want storyline skip? Perfectly fine, don't do it, play as you like, BUT give other people choice, why do we have to be so selfish? Im not talking about removing camping, but what is wrong with having a choice? It would not change the game for you in any way, you will not even notice it, why do you want to decide for other people? I respect everybodys opinion, that's why i want everybody to have choice and Play like they want to, i spend 1200h in poe 1 only because campaing was very short and i could just rushed it and then do what i want and when in maps, do content that im intrested in, and not the one that im forced to do. Lack of storyline skip is the only thing that made me not play poe 1 anymore, i was so bored of it that i could not even stand this 5h of camping. So again, you may not like it, and that's perfectly fine, you don't have to never use it.

I agree. Next they should just give players the ability to skip early maps, you have to do them every single League and that might get boring so just let players skip straight to mid-tier ones.
Actually thats boring too, lets just all skip to high tier maps thats where the "true" game is. Actually high tier maps have to be repeated each League too, players really should have a choice of getting Mageblood in Act 1 town and a portal to Arbiter of Ash where he dies from a single hit. After that he should explode into thousands of Mirrors and Magebloods so we could finally start playing the "true" game. Actually thats also too much work and effort. Just give us a big rainbow colored Congratulations You Won screens the moment you press Login button. The most important part in playing arpgs is to not actually grind for loot but to instantly win. |

To be honest I don't even particularly enjoy the PoE1 campaign and I'm happy to rush through it as fast as humanly possible.
The idea that I'd need to spend 5X the time as PoE1 requires seems ludicrous for each new character. Once per league I'm OK with investing 25-30 hours [whatever] into finishing the campaign. After that if I want to create a new character in the same league [same difficulty, same everything] then just give me a naked L65 character with 64 unspent character points and however many "quest reward" books [or whatever] that you'd normally get from the campaign. I'll worry about getting skill gems, items, etc. from my first character who hopefully has already farmed up everything that the second character needs. If not then that's my problem. Once the character is geared up then it's time to go through ascension trials [or buy a carry] and go from there. Last edited by KingAlamar#4071 on Jan 4, 2025, 5:21:01 PM

" no we dont skip steps of the hero's journey in this franchise, learn to tolerate it or go play hello super easy rainbows and sparkles made-for-five-year-olds Blizzard games. . . asking for stuff that has already been told a hard no to is not good feedback. |

" What part of "You don't have to use it" you don't understand? Nobody is telling you how you should play the game, then why are you telling other people how they should play? That's not really fair. "No" is not a very good argument. Why can't people have a choice? Give me reason, what that would change in YOUR gameplay? |

" It's simple. For example in trade, if skipping acts will be faster than doing them for like 5% everyone will feel stupid to do acts. You clearly don't understand consequences of giving people choice. On Probation Any%
