Hold XP till the end of the map.

I know this thread is just going to get bogged down by die-hards defending the current system, but I really do think the OP has a solid idea here.

Holding the XP till the end avoids rewarding failure without feeling like its punishing the player for taking risks. You still have the tension of wanting to avoid death to avoid losing waystones and the potential rewards you might reap, without the demoralizing sight of your XP bar ticking *backwards* after quite a lot of work.
boomers like to loose things when they die. its old and outdated and stating that level 100 is for elites is just dogshit elitist gatekeeping

No, this is a completely [Removed by Support] and BACKWARDS idea. It punishes lower levels far more than it does higher levels. At lower levels you can easily get well over 10% in a single map, hell you can get multiple levels in some maps.

This idea also doesn't deal with what happens if you die after you've killed all the rares? Do you just not get xp for those kills?

It's an idea that was not thought out well, and fails to understand the purpose behind xp loss.

Firstly, fixed your statement to avoid unnecessary slurs that have no place in civilized discussion.

Secondly, your point regarding the punishing effect of the XP hold on lower levels is well taken. Perhaps it'd be a mechanic that'd kick in only on the higher/highest tier maps?

Thirdly, if the proposed system replaced outright xp loss, then if it triggers after the last elite is dead, then dying to a random mob after the fact wouldn't lose you anything.
