Another PoE1 Vet Disappointed With PoE2

"

- **"Crafting" is terrible**

There is no crafting. Transmutes & Augments are just creating an extra drop. Telling us we won't need to swap runes was straight up refusing to acknowledge the reality of the game. Essences aren't plentiful enough to meaningfully fill any void in the system. Every decision made with crafting throttles player flexibility and problem solving... which just forces us even harder to engage in trade.

- **Magic Find**

I've harped on it a few times, but this is the most egregious example of a solved problem that PoE1 struggled with for years, that PoE2 somehow refused to learn from. My favorite suggestion that I've seen is to apply MF to maps, but to decrement it for each portal consumed. Speaking of...

Crafting is utterly terrible right now yes. They said in POE2 currency would be more common to encourage people to craft things on their own, actually its way worse than it is in POE1. There aren't enough bases dropped to craft on and on the other hand rare drops are way scarcer. I would love to craft more, but there aren't any meaningful ways to target farm both types of essences to higher your odds in crafting. And alteration spam is missing entirely, well...

Thats on point, if you dont use Magic Find your literally crippling yourself and its a terrible design choice. I love they way PoE1 solved the problem and hoped PoE2 would adapt this as well, but i think there wasn't enough time to get rid of that here. I hope they will remove it in PoE2 too.

There is no predictable crafting in PoE2 because the drops make up for that.

PoE is all about crafting.. mirror tier items are not found or items even remotely good are never found on the ground compared to PoE2.
I completely agree about the visual clarity. Every scene is so chalk full of details that it breaks immersion. I find it hard to to focus after a while (could just be a me issue). On top of that there are so many animations that makes even the relevant things hard to see , like death effects.

Yeah dood, we get good items from the ground around here

You capped NEVER? So how did you learn the uber elder boss fight? With one portal? We NEEDED 6 for a chance to learn and beat it WITHOUT farming a whole notha set of stones. Your comment is ludicrous.

Are you seriously trying to say that we should make PoE easier because Uber bosses are hard? What kind of sense does that make? Uber bosses are supposed to be hard, its in their name.

Man seriously? You are removing player agency, forcing another time sink farm. How about you go waste 20 hours farming rng citadels with one chance to lose and get back to me.. obviously playing a broken build if you think that way. A few ports to figure out the mechanics would be helpful and doesn't disrespect the players time or investment .. for a single chance. So yes I am suggesting EXACTLY that. I suppose you want to cater to "get good" 1% and not the masses who are going to uninstall the game after 30 hours looking for a citadel and die to some overtuned mechanic. It's an EA game full of unbalanced bugs and issues (end game).. and your premise is OH WELL .. game is hard. Go farm another 30 hours to find the same citadel you don't need. Here's a dose of reality for you.. NO THANKS.

That's why they kept poe 1
Can't please everyone
The fact that trading is mandatory to maintain the damage curve throughout the early Acts is the biggest fail.

I did what GGG told me to do. I made a filter to highlight weapon bases and crafted every one that dropped. Spent so much currency to get a quarter of the damage a weapon for a few Exalts on trade gave me. After 50 hours of picking up, identifying and crafting weapons I still haven't got one better than 5 Exalt weapons on trade.

Okay what?

You needed to trade for the campaign?

Thats a personal issue.
Mash the clean
I think I spent around 1k USD or slightly less on POE 1. I was disappointed with POE 1 after a few years and stopped playing.

But I am giving it a go again this time round and see how it goes.
I might just write a short review. I think I have at least 150 plus hours on it so far since Dec 6th.

There are definitely things that are turning me off but there is some improvement as compared to POE 1.

One thing that is disappointing is definitely the trading system.

I think some maps are just too huge, the endless delving map system isn't that appealing, 1 death and things are gone for softcore during mapping is pointless.

Ascendancy trials are not exactly friendly especially for new players and people who wants to get into it, its a turn off.

But I did manage to figure out how to work it out, but a lot of new players might find it off putting.

The Chaos AOE archers are still over tuned obviously . And there needs to be balance on some on death mechanics in Maps. If you are running Maps like Augury, those crazy on death mechanics on rares are just pointless, I mean where are you going to run and dodge roll.

So that's what I think so far.

It's a Skill Gem related issue because some skills are 100 times better than others.

If you chose a bad skill you actually have no idea it's bad until you start looking at content creators. Using Lightning Rod and Orb of Storms makes PoE 2 a completely different game.
