Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

Why invest hours into a game to risk losing everything with one mistake?

Why invest hours into a game if next league all progress will be wiped?

Why invest years into a life if you will eventually die anyway? :)

Most posting on the forum just want to walk into the game and have everything completed/easily accessible. They seem to have get no satisfaction from completing challenging content and instead find the participation trophy what is most rewarding.

So I keep advocating for a "Casual" game mode with reduced mechanics, punishments and increased drop rates for them. Trophies for everyone.
Since when 10% is "all XP"? 🤣

Also, you can't delevel.

100% totally agree, honestly I would be relieved if they would finally get that mode and stop asking for it :)

They already have that mode, its called Diablo 4
Step 1 is to self reflect.

Way to assign motivation to people.

The death penalty IS easy mode with a participation trophy. It drives players to only attempt content they know they can complete without dying.

The game cannot be made challenging with the XP penalty and map loss on death.

Challenging content, by definition, means you will be dying regularly. But we can't have bosses that you die to multiple times in a row, and maps with mob packs and rares that will regularly kill you, because the penalties mean no one would progress.

You're dying to the modifiers of a map that you should not be running.. you're complacent.

So running easier, less challenging maps is the answer?

I'll say it again - if most players can regularly go ten maps without a death, there is a problem.

Death should be a constant companion on your journey. Bosses should take multiple deaths to figure out - and there will be more than 200 of them.

Players should be encouraged to juice up their maps, knowing they will likely die, so they can try to overcome the challenge.

The death penalty teaches players to stick to easy mode maps and it prevents the devs from designing the type of challenging content that players will regularly die to.

It doesn't teach players to stick to easy maps. That's a choice they make because its easier. The xp penalty is not intrinsically tied to the balance of combat and skills. If there isn't enough incentive for you to try harder content then they need to work on making it more attractive. Make bosses a little easier to access, add more portals to their encounters. Tier the bosses in a 1st, 2nd, 3rd encounter format where you learn them gradually. Reduce the penalty to feel more in line with how much xp you need to level. There are so many options you are pretending cant exist. You absolutely can balance the gameplay while a xp penalty exists, because the challenge of the gameplay isn't based on how much xp you lose when you die.

You keep saying it, you KNOW that its bad gameplay to sit there farming brainless low content. The game is all but saying it out loud for you. One of these times, try just saying ,"#$%# lvl 100 im gonna knock out hard content today". Ignore your xp, and just go hard. Instead of focusing on xp, focus on something else, like how much currency you can get, or what bosses you can take down.

Ask for easy mode, exp loss is not being removed from the core.

not being mean, just blunt.

its like asking wizards to be removed from harry potter.

54 pages of entirely wasted time you could have spent petitioning for easy-mode.
Innocence forgives you

You always seem to forget your first step rule when engaging with community members. Try being less impudent <3

Plenty of community members asking for just that throughout the 54 pages and other similar post/threads. Dunno if you missed them but other solutions or options were also provided/talked about.

Oh, I can only imaging how you and similar players would cry if you git what you ask :) If difficulty would be balanced around having 6 attempts, so if you are not playing quite good, you would usually die 6 times during one map.

Though without EXP penalty, that wouldn't be challenging anyway, unless it's challenge about how much time you are willing to spend.

Btw, I wonder — are 4th ascendancy trials looks challenging for you, or it's an easy mode and you wish them to be much harder?
