Sorceress leveling experience
Sorc has so many useless skills and traps she can fall into, probably just like most classes. It just depends on if you fall into those traps or gravitate towards the powerful stuff. Like I can't imagine what some of these skills are used for anymore like firestorm after the CoI nerf.

at this moment the different skill we can use are totally unbalance.
with some it's a really easy way during act and with other it's a really pain. so for now , we could just adapt us before have some balance patch. and you speaking about gear, it's true, i gamble all my early money for find a + lvl gear, finaly find close lvl 15 and i only change that blue staff at lvl 65+.... i easly understand if you have no luck it's definitly hard mode. |

" I'm no wizard to know exactly which builds you are playing in order to tell you what you are doing wrong. This thread is about sorc, so I can offer some advice for that: Spark can do everything and you should probably be using that. Most people don't understand that spark scales less off of damage boosts and more off of making it hit as many times as possible. The raw amount of projectiles generated is simply so high that increasing the chance that each one of them hits is way more valuable than marginally improving each hit's damage, both for clear and for single target. Projectile Speed, Duration, Fork/Pierce are way more important to secure early on than damage is. People complain about Archmage being lvl 58, but I was leveling fine with raw spark way before I got Archmage. In fact, my damage actually dropped after specing into Archmage, until I replaced the gear with appropriate pieces. Spark should be able to carry any sorc into maps. Love the games. PoE1 way more so than PoE2, but still enjoying both. Hate the company. The scummy, lying, fake and shitty facade, the excuses, the failures, and most of all, the "Vision". Keep both of those in mind when reading my posts. Last edited by PrimordialDarkness#3913 on Dec 29, 2024, 8:04:41 AM

As an experienced poe1 players, I'm just here to say that you are not alone.
I played first as monk, got a great weapon drop that easily carried me through most of the campaign into maps but I was aware of that. As constant searching for better weapons but nothing dropping is a sign. This does happen in poe1 sometimes but not as often, the campaign difficulty is MUCH easier though so one rarely needs to seriously craft or trade etc until maps rerolled sorc. OMG what a pain. Been doing everything I can to craft and vendor and farm +spell levels but had really bad luck. Respecced my tree and watched some guides. Yes it is borked. The damage is atrocious. Yes without a lucky drop or going to trade I can grind my way through, and rejig my build and skills to get something "workable" but I am not enjoying the process as much. Everything is conditional but monk has drop bell/delete boss mechanic to bypass a lot of that. The "unhepful" comments here are partly correct about its being a skill issue but the dodge roll "skill" endlessly is not a great way to improve the levelling experience. Yes, we need to look at what ever bit of help we can get if we are to progress. It doesnt seem to me at least for early on that on can really be a single element build, you have to use multiple skills and combo as well as you can. You have to stay mobile while incrementally setting up the multi stage spells. Other wise spark and firewall all day every day. It seems to be the best skill by a country mile to level with/ Which is a balance issue imho. This weak sauce spell casting isn't really my idea of fun to be frank. GGG want you to farm a fair amount early on it seems so back tracking and just farming is a good strat. On the plus side, if you find something good its less likely that it will be outlevelled quickly. One can always start a new character and level that and keep an eye out for drops that will aid your sorc. This is an old trope and part of what GGG is trying to push. Anyway I've been playing spellcasters since original poe1 closed beta, have levelled characters to 90+ in almost every league. I am in no way an elite level player but I know enough to pass the campaign with basically 0 issues in poe1. I feel your pain, because its is my pain. I came to the forums to look for consolation but if I can offer you any....its that yes this game is hard, the balance is kinda bad and if RNGesus is not on your side its even worse. Tighten your belt, pull your panties out of your arse. Buckle up buttercup. This is solved by grinding, levels, gear, knowledge, patience. The clue is in the name of the developers. If you are patient I think they WILL do a balance pass in favour of early progression and spark may well be killed/nerfed again as it had to be in the first poe1 early days. Cruel is way easier when your build comes online but this is a high hurdle for a poorly equipped sorc to jump. Still sane Exile? |
