The loot in PoE 2 could not be more boring
There was an announcement and subsequent patch recently where they said, "We've heard your feedback that the game feels unrewarding", and supposedly steps were taken to address it. I can't imagine how bad things must have been before, because after reaching T15-16 maps I can hardly believe how unrewarding the endgame feels.
Every piece of loot that drops in the game is borderline trash. This is especially true for uniques. Out of hundreds there are maybe 10-12 uniques in the game worth a damn, but those are so insanely rare that they're worth 30-40 divines. Why have all these garbage uniques? Just make all uniques insanely rare and powerful. At least then I might feel an ounce of excitement when one drops. As far as bases / rares go, maybe I could use a combination of orbs on some things and get insanely lucky, but probably not. Using valuable trade currency to craft with a 99% failure rate feels about as good as a fucking root canal. Meanwhile, deterministic crafting doesn't really seem to exist with omens and greater essences being so rare. As a result crafting feels like a literal waste of time when you can just hoard currency and trade for items. This is the same thing that killed PoE 1 (for me, anyway) and we've seemingly learned nothing. So here we are, grinding endgame maps and praying for divine drops. The only time I *EVER* feel excited about a loot drop is when a divine drops, and they're so rare that I'm left doing map after map with absolutely nothing to show for it. It's just bad, GGG. If there's no exciting loot to be found, what is the point of playing the game? Last edited by Blasphemous84#2190 on Dec 29, 2024, 1:41:31 AM Last bumped on Dec 30, 2024, 7:18:40 AM

For sure there is a lack of resources to do anything to advance your gear in a meaningful way, especially first time through the Acts.
Greatly needing abilities to create normal items from magic / rare items, something to change magic affixes, perhaps currency to change vendor for sale items. Whatever it is, currently is is about searching the trade site or you are just throwing cash away. As is, you simply will not ever have any exalts crafting, and those exalts = big items in trade site. Sad really…. :( |

" I agree that especially unique items seem to be lackluster. I remember from the content reveal that they said something along the lines "Unique items should be exciting." I've not played a whole lot since EA and only found 3 or so uniques, none of which were that exciting. That Red Coat thingy with 100 life is OKish, but with the bleeding as a downside again not so much. The other was some staff that I already forgot about, so exciting it was. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" 1. I full agree on uniques, the game would be better if they just entirely deleted 99% unique items. 2. Me and my friends, and other people I know picked up a lot of VERY good loot from the ground, not only orbs, but rare items worth 10-20-50 diviens straight out of the bag. Some that needed an extra exalt slam or chaos orb slam, but in many cases they were ready to sell. This also never happened in poe1, where you hid rare items in acts and never picked them up from the floor. 3. Currency is there to use it, you are silly for not using exalts/chaos orbs, I am not even talking about cheaper stuff. Most of my money came from crafting, yes you fail 99 times, but the one time you get good rolls, it costs more divines then you can find in a week of non stop grind. 4. Nobody is praying for divine drops, even with best luck and MF rarity gear you would be picking maybe 5-6 divines per day, why bother? When you can sell rare item for 50 divines? |

I drop 5-10 uniques per map btw, and I dont remember picking any one of them. What mind boggles me is that they drop mostly in maps, but are designed for low level (10-20 lvl) character, and even then they seem worse on stats than any random yellow item of THAT level.
But you can't hide uniques items from lootfilter as eventually, oneday, maybe, you will drop a 20-60-80 divines unique. Last edited by GODOFWARSANCHEZ#4574 on Dec 29, 2024, 3:53:02 AM

I spent 100 chaos orbs yesterday crafting items, and I usually throw like 50-150 exalts a day on items I pick up from the floor, to toss them into vendor garbage or to sell them in the end.

" If you know which are the valuable ones, you should be able to hide uniques and add exceptions for the ones you would still like to find. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" When GGG made PoE2 they forgot to add FUN. Farming maps 10 hours a day since release, expecting different outcome other than 0 PROFIT is definition of insanity. Sure, you can play Twitch builds ,and oneshot t17 bosses, but i am sure GGG did not have that in mind when they made so many classes and so many ascendancies. Literally every streamer plays 3 same builds and that's it. They sit at 100+ divines , while everyone else who is NOT playing meta builds, sitting at 0-5 almost month into PoE2. |

We're right back to square one. People are now realizing how bad the loot is because there's not 11-12 years of loot that's been added to the game. This game has two directions it can go. One where loot is satisfying, and means something. Or one in which crafting and trading are king. I vote for good loot. Because that's the main draw of an ARPG, you know.. The loot. |
