Hopeless degenerate gamblers economy
|
Warrior lvl 85 I think, playing T12 maps.
I need better gear to progress, everything is very expensive, feels like hyper inflation. I can't progress because I need currency I can't get. So far since the beach I got 2 divines, everything else is total misery. It's a hard work without wage, there's no reward, nothing new to try, nothing available. Feels like a mobile game with pay walls running in a popcorn machine in China, every 2 hours or so the connection drop. I don't mind some issues, but the game must provide the tools for it to be playable, otherwise, it's just a gamblers bloatware. Last bumped on Dec 28, 2024, 8:53:06 PM

" I feel the same way. I made a post about it offering some sort of solution for players feeling like this after mapping. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3668928 |

![]() I wonder if they'll ever realize it's the main reason the game doesn't have a more widespread appeal. The 'Economy'. I think they do, because keeping the economy in the game means they keep making money off premium stash tabs and player fomo, and keeps players addicted, spending more. To me, all it does is ruin the game for me. I hit 80 in PoE 1 and then stop playing because all I'm doing is worrying about buying or crafting gear. It's unfun. Forced interactions in the form of using another website to find an item, whisper that person, get invited, trade, and then they leave party, usually without saying anything. Seen dozens of friends over the years quit or stop playing because of it too. I don't think most players here realize that the loot is intentionally bad in this game to force the economy either. It's bland, uninspired, and most of the time you're more excited for currency dropping than an item. Which just goes against everything ARPG to me. So much value to the game.. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3663256 Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Dec 28, 2024, 1:06:24 AM

I've leveled 3 characters now to 80+. Every time they reach the point where upgrades start to cost 2+ divines, I quit and make a new character.
I want to farm gear. I want to farm GOOD gear. I don't want to farm dog shit gear and then pray I get lucky crafting, and I certainly don't want to endlessly farm orbs so I can buy gear from other players. Based on interviews before the launch of EA, I thought they were going to take things in a different direction, but the game becomes a currency farming simulator late game, just like PoE 1. It's sad, because the actual gameplay / combat is really good, but so long as the endgame loop consists solely of farming orbs, it's DOA for me. " Your conflating two different things. Wtf do stash tabs have to do with player currency economy? Who gives a fuck if someone talks during a trade, what do you want their life story? I want them to come to my hideout and quickly do trade, so i can get back to what I was doing. In fact, trade behavior has been terrible in POE2. People spamming you and inviting you for trades. That NEVER or very rarely happens in POE1 because you will get put on ignore. I don't want to talk to people while trading other than thanks and gl. I'm sure that's the bulk of people. Crafting is the core of POE1. If you don't like it, why not just go play another ARPG? I'm not saying that to be a jackass just to point out that maybe this isnt your cup of tea. There are others out there which may "excite" you more. Maybe D4, grim dawn, last epoch might be a good option. They are more heavy on drops and less about crafting. |
|
" chill dude, the game is explicitely more balanced around trading. last epoch has some buff to drop for ssf for instance. |
|
" I came off badly there. =/ Point taken. |

" Everything? Currency is used to buy items that people post and list in premium stash tabs. Currency is used to craft items. Like, the entire system is reliant on stash tabs to function. People play to farm currency to buy gear with. You cannot be serious with this question of yours, can you? " I give a fuck, because the excuse being used to keep trading, crafting and the 'economy' in the game is that it promotes interactions between players. Which is just false, because 99% of the time there's zero interaction outside of the actual trade. " That's the point mate. I want to play the damn game. Not play trading simulator, leaving the gameplay to do a trade that I only have to do, because the game is built around the economy. " Almost as if it's a bad system. Imagine all the new players getting ignored trying to buy a piece of gear. " Can you be honest, Did you even read what I wrote? Because you seem to have the exact complaints that I listed, and how it's not bringing value to the game. Did you just kneejerk react to my comment, without actually thinking about it for a minute? " Crafting is forced in PoE, because they balanced for it. The loot is intentionally bland and pathetic, because they expect you to trade and 'craft' to progress. I'm not arguing it's not the core of PoE. I'm saying that it's a shitty way to balance a game. It's not fun for players. It has a ton of negatives. You're even telling me some of them in your response. Wake up my man. PoE 2 is a new game, and as such. Does not need to be forced into crafting for the sake of an economy. Trading just to pretend this game is anything more than a largely single player experience. Go read my other post. Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Dec 28, 2024, 3:48:25 AM

A friend of mine played league after league, all the time, but he was muted for one inconsequential comment, then another, then another. The last one for saying things like you say here, and because he was prevented from speaking, he had the bad luck of saying "budding dictators." For that inconsequential comment he was muted for 1600 hours.
I think these people just want money, our money, like Blizzard, and they are no longer what they say, that they listen to the players. They have absurd rules, which you comply with at all costs, with people who enforce them worse than the monsters we find in the game, given what we have seen. There is no epikeia, there is no fun. And we play to have fun, not to find a wall. What you say here about the economy is totally true. And we put up with bots that advertise RTM pages, which are not limited by those same people who attack the friend for saying "budding dictators." What serious crime did he commit? However, bots are not limited as long as the economy is bad and you only get excited when you see an orb drop, because unique items and everything else are not even worth looking at. If they are what they say, prove it, listen. And act with epikeya. If we are playing poe-2, why are you imposing 1600 hours of silence on my friend? Something is wrong here, and it is very serious. |
