Melee builds doing bosses in Act 1 and 2 (possibly 3 too)
" What build you runnin? Just started a HC monk |
|
" I tried almost every single skill during the course of the campaign and what I found was that the quarterstaff has no bad skills. The base crit chance is so high that just taking a little bit of crit in the tree makes the monk's damage absolutely ridiculous; I spent most of the early acts playing around the killing palm - falling thunder combo for packs and dropping the bell to disintegrate bosses. I would honestly say you should play around with a bunch of different skills, but whatever you end up using build it as crit. |

I had so much trouble on my first time fighting the act 1 last boss, i was on a witch, i picked up my warrior again later and did it so easily i had to check for nonexistent new patch notes cuz every fool kept telling me warrior was shit.

yea early on you pretty much want to go pure DPS only in the passive tree. the more damage you deal the faster you stun. Forget about getting armor and regen its all about DPS lol

Yeah there’s a huge gap between clueless melee and abusive melee on early boss fights. You go Monk, double Bell (YES you can place 2 bells, you just have to socket the gem twice, obvious, innit) and virtually 100-0 Wolf phase 2.
You will screw this up though if you don’t have the timings down by heart, i.e. boss is running away to do some attack exactly as you get your bells down. Etc. When I did Draven on my Monk, I ended up just kiting the boss with a white Chaos Bolt wand, because I know how to kite and this boss will slowly walk after you for seconds on end if you kite. But dare you get into melee range, he immediately unleashes some bullshit attacks. Honestly the whole Heavy Stun angle feels like a cheap solution to the problem, like: "We admit you have a trash time dodging all this crap as melee, here’s some free damage uptime in return." And then a couple mobs/bosses tumble away from you through half the room when they get stunned, and you lose uptime… especially annoying if they tumble out of bell range… |

Draven is easily destroyed as monk with just the basic quarterstaff attack.

You need to play a ranged character until you find a good staff/mace then go make you melee character. Huge difference in Act 1 if you have a good weapon.
