XP Penalty on Death is one of the worst things in POE1 and transcended in POE2

I am sorry, but this thing made me quit the game before, and I think will make me quit it before ending of early access.

This thing is so frustrating and absolutly painfully bad that it will just make me and many others quit the game again once reaching the endgame.

You can make the xp curve for late levels bigger, exponential, without this absolut garbage mechanic.

This only make me do as most of the people who get to 100, always just pay people to lvl up (Using ingame currency ofcource).

Is this really necesarry ?

The frustration and the anger of loosing something its only making people angrier, not more motivated to play.

For me, and I bet allot of people, to play 20 hours at lvl 90+ and loose on one death the xp from 10 hours, it is just unbearable.

Is this a part of the game, to make you quit the endgame as it is not intended for casual players ?

Here is where you loose a base of players.

This XP loss on death is from D2 and it's anachronism that needs to go.
POE2 is a different game from POE1 and D2 and the XP loss should be removed.
The xp curve is already exponentially insane right now.

In less than 5 days, the ladder is filled with lv92-93's - irrc 3-4 days to lv get to lv93 completely blind, no trade item etc.

And it's been a solid 20 (TWENTY) days now, and we only see people at 99, while still have top10 at 98...

let that sink in.
All it does is make you not engage with any fun content when you want to fill out those last few levels.

Cause why would you? The fun content has much higher risk and one death is hours of progress lost.

Least when losing maps or resources, you might have someone supply you instantly with a new one. Can't do that with exp.

This is actually a reazon I forgot to add to the ones allready pressent in the first post.

I totally agree with you.

I only made 1 char lvl 100 in my 1600 hours of gameplay, and that was paying for that xp.

I do not belive I have actually managed to do more than 95.

And I remember that made me quit most of the chars or league, having reachign that point.

Why would I play if my efforts are in vain ?

I bet there are thousants of people that quit just for this reason.

And I do not think this mechanic adds more value than this players would do if they would stay.
Lvl 98+ is supposed to be prestigious, you are not meant to get there without significant investment, effort, and time. The XP penalty is a good thing to achieve these high-end goals, they're not for everyone, especially not for someone making such an entitled post.

The time investment to reach 98+ is already more than enough for it to be "prestigious".

Funny enough, in the other post that hit 30+ pages. One of the supports for the exp-penalty actually had 3 100... But then almost every other character stopped around 95.

Assuming he wasn't carried for those lvl 100, he himself does display the issue with the exp-loss in just the way he's levelled most his characters. After a certain point, the time-investment to level just becomes too ridiculous to carry through, especially with the exp-loss on top of it.

Agree! I'm very disappointed. I bought early access just because I understood there was no penalty. I started the endgame and I've already abandoned the game, just like I abandoned POE1.

It doesn't make sense! Losing the few hours I have of evolution if I die. What a sad idea to lose a player.

If there is an option to change the loot settings, they could just add a checkbox "I want to suffer".

I really regret having wasted money and campaign time on this.

It was going so well... One less player, I've already uninstalled it.
