So much Real Money Transaction

Is this your first online game with trade? They compromise accounts and then use them to spam. It's the nature of the beast.

A game developer which doesn't factor in ATOs and include simple flags such as geolocations when it comes to login is absurd.

However, I can't say I've seen a single account spamming which wasn't a gibberish name, I imagine most if not all of those are being made with stolen payment methods, rather then accounts that have been compromised.

I understand you want to be right, but let me help you out here so you can be right next time. Automated flags have issues and cause issues. Always have. Some are good, some are not. Problems always come from them though.
Second, compromised accounts doesn't just mean a compromised game account, it can be a bank account, etc.
Third, gibberish names are on the characters, not necessarily the account.

You're welcome.

Pot calling the kettle black XD

Automated flags =/= actions being taken. An account normally being geolocated in one place and then suddenly another doesn't mean it's shut down and banned. Other factors come into this and there's simple ways to include and require additional verification and have very limited impact on legitimate users that just happened to travel half way around the globe and decide to play PoE2 on a completely different device.

To clarify, we're talking about compromised PoE2 accounts, not bank accounts etc XD last I checked this wasn't a EA Feedback forums for banks etc

I will agree I've went assuming their experience is similar when it comes to the use of stolen payment methods to spam channels etc. It seems like a much easier method then an ATO to do something like this and across the industry is most commonly the method used to do this.

Overall there is a need to do more, and there are options they could be taking that don't appear to be being implemented. Hence why I referenced a prospective tool (one of many) that could assist and be implemented with a more limited impact or need for staffing to take action and greatly reduces the filtering needed by a person.

While not the one that I have been involved in, they all work similarly and allow for account level data, but can also parse and receive in game information. The combination of these multiple data points and varied weighting allows for either automated actions, or at least flagging to cause further investigation, limiting the time window the bad actors have to do things.

I think for most players having a slight inconvenience the twice a year they travel internationally and use a brand new device to play PoE2, while reducing the prevalence of RMT in the game would be acceptable if the majority of it is being caused by ATOs. This also reducing the prevalence, impact and the associated benefit for the bad actor to even do this in the first place. There's many steps between allowing everything happening and carte blanche just terminating an account.
Let the be. RMT and bot (unfortunately) will always be around.

Play SSF, it won't get affected by any RMT. Game is manageable with SSF as well. Soon, once they (hopefully) balance the endgame thing, it'll get better.

Cheers.

RMT seeps into normal trade by inflating prices. Prices are already out of control for the average and above average player.

The only winning move is to not play. Earnestly engaging in the economy in this genre is doing it wrong. You play with the loot you/your friends find for each other. I don't condone RMTing. I think it's a self-defeating practice that robs your of your own enjoyment.

All I use is currency exchange. I refuse to go externally to trade. I turned off chat day 1.

Oh timmy... The automated flags dont stop someone from logging in and spamming a few times now do they?

Stay free timmy.
Step 1 is to self reflect.

It's not that you're worth the time to respond to, it's about educating others now. As you must surely be taking the piss to be so ignorant?

You can include a flag where if they log in from a different geolocation and are using a different device ID it requires them to enter a auth code sent to their email address at login.

There's plenty of high deliverability transactional providers to ensure it's delivered immediately to their inbox and not filtered. And doesn't require a 2fa app or similar.
