I do dislike that negative movement on a shield, there's nothing to eliminate that from taking shield passives. Warrior is such a slow-moving class even with movement skills.
Heck I feel sometimes when that enemy that throws that kunai with chain at you and slows you down, sometimes the animation remains when you kill the enemy, the kunai and chain is still wrapped around you even when you walk farther away. It's a visual bug but it feels like that playing the warrior class. Get boxed in and can't dodge roll, try to stampede or shield dash out the way, oops ran into somebody. Try to leap out, oh you got frozen mid-air and attacked to death. Oops ran into a tight corner and couldn't see enemies in the 'crypt' design. Tried to do sunder but can't dodge roll mid-way during animation since the enemies casted those crazy violet crystals and the guard boxes with the blooming flowers. Melee in most ARPG's is terrible but Monster Hunter was the game that had separated out armor for the classes that actually felt right. This here in PoE2 feels like they wanted the freedom to do whatever, but it feels clunky in the design. |

Melee don't need more anything at all. The mobs just need more balance passes and caster builds all need to be tweaked a lot. Warrior mace is in a very good spot and most other classes need to be brought in line with it. Mace feels like it has a lot of tools and avenues to do things and cool combos to lean into, while spell casters barely have 1 thing they can work with. Playing a fire build you have literally 0 mechanics other than firestorm consuming ignites, and it is one of the top 5 worst skills in the game even when empowered.
