Chaos Damage Skills dont do Chaos Damage???
My chaos damage skill Toxic Growth wont do chaos damage at all if i dont have the Cultis Bow equiped. But what is the point of a chaos damage skill if its not doing chaos damage on its own??? Can we have a physical convert to chaos damage on this skill pls cause it doesnt make any sense for me to use a chaos damage skill and build full on bonus physical to increase its damage....
Meanwhile I cant use the passive chaos nodes that increase chaos skill level by 1 or anything cause on the way there it gives me chaos damage bonus which i cant use with a CHAOS damage skill cause it wont do any on its own... I agree it's kinda weird, but my guess is they only slapped the "chaos" tag on it so u can scale poison properly if u choose.
In essence it's a skill that uses the base damage of ur bow, whichever that is. |

There is the 25% of phys as extra chaos gem and i think around another %10 on the tree which would scale from chaos nodes i think. But the cultist bow seems pointless as there are no local mods for that bow that scale it's chaos damage so your stuck with the base damage it has.

" Yeah... duh. And the warrior/mace is the only real caster class inthe game. And the game isn't really an aRPG. And elemental attack damage depend on physical damage almost exclusively. Everything is pretty clear to me. Let me dodgeroll my way to the PoE2 circus. Last edited by epiphase#4568 on Dec 21, 2024, 9:18:10 AM

" The thing is poison doesnt do chaos damage. An increase to chaos damage will only increase your poison damage if the hit that causes poison does chaos damage. |

" Poison does chaos damage. That is fundamental. The magnitude of said chaos damage done by poison is defined from the combination of physical and chaos damage of the hit that poisoned the enemy. Are you by chance trying to attach envenom to a fireball or something of the sort, is that why you are saying "the hit has to deal chaos damage"? Because both physical and chaos contribute to the poison magnitude, so i'm not sure where the belief of "poison doesn't do chaos damage" is coming from. |

" On the one hand, i get your point here. On the other, it's now multipurpose: you can either poison them via poisonburst arrow, or just use your base damage type if it's not chaos and you are against something chaos resistant/poison resistant. |

" Increase in chaos damage will not increase poion damage if your initial hit does not do any chaos damage. There are a few videos out there that explain it and testet it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DX-gc4xfAA Last edited by _Yoru_#5911 on Dec 21, 2024, 11:53:51 AM

" EDIT: I get what the misunderstanding i have is. Yes, in order for you to have chaos damage on the poison application, your initial hit requires chaos damage to be on it for the +chaos damage to function. +chaos% to 0 is always going to be 0. This is likely to stop poison from getting a duplicate benefit (double-dipping) into the +chaos damage% boost, which would allow you to get a higher +chaos damage hit to apply the poison, then get the +chaos damage% hit to boost the applied poison. Because they don't want that occuring, i see that they made +chaos damage% only apply to the hit that applied the poison, not to the poison itself.
