After 45 hours of frustration I'm done with PoE 2
First let me start by saying I'm new to the PoE series. I played two characters. I got a witch to 33 and a Monk to 28 and have experienced nothing but frustration with this game. Nothing about it is really fun at all. My main gripes are that all of the crafting gear is just random drops and you can't farm specific mobs to get what you want to roll for stats on new gear. The bosses are also super annoying. Bad hitboxes on lots of abilities and ridiculous back swing animations on specific bosses as well (thinking of the guy in the graveyard after you kill praetor and asinia). Act 1 boss was a complete nightmare. Died probably 30+ times trying to kill him before taking a look at my gear and resistances. Had an easier time with him on my monk but generally speaking all of the bosses are just plain frustrating and unfun to play against. The last straw is probably Sekhemas trial with the honor system. The actual trial is incredibly boring and uninteractive. I've played through it five times and haven't completed it due to honor always dropping to zero and monk bell constantly getting glitched inside the boss and being untargettable. Nothing in the actual trial was hard just boring and annoying. I never lost anything more than energy shield either but I lose the boss fight because of the honor system.
I'm at my wits end with this game and very burnt out on it. Last bumped on Dec 21, 2024, 8:29:34 PM

The game is designed around wanting you to play ranger and so you can only have fun on ranger.

They might as well just remove the melee characters. lol

The game is still in Early Access/Beta and things will change. More abilities will come in, new balance as well. There are some serious frustrations in the game as well, so a lot of builds out there are kind of designed around those.
Just about every class issue I've had been fixed by either adding more defenses (especially more resistances), or getting weapon/gem upgrades, or optimizing gems. There are some points in the game where the difficulty spikes. Usually last zone of each act. The Dreadnaught at the end of act 2 just stonewalled my semi-hipster Staff Warrior until I tweaked my gear a bit and played much more defensively. The trials Ill usually try once when I first get access to them, and if I don't get it. I just come back later and over level it. POE, Diablo III, and Torchlight 2... what, who says I can't enjoy all of them?

Poe2 is basically mental fatigue the game, it may take longer for some people or they just don't want to admit yet but this is probably one of most burn out inducing games evermade

I agree with quite a bit of the feedback but I also think the difficulty of the game is fine. The fact you only looked at your gear after 30 tries says a lot, especially because it makes a HUGE difference in this game.
But you are right that the trials are 💩, melee is disadvantaged many times over, and burn out risk is real. I think the size of certain zones is also crazy. The dreadnought being 2 levels that are practically 1 map, the Azak Bog (act 3) is probably the worst offender, and a few others come to mind. |

For all that's good with the game they sure are wiping it all away by bringing in these RNG trials.

Hated the trials in PoE1 but at least I could wait a few days until there was a short Uber and over level a bit to do it while mapping.
Poe2, all I can say is FAIL. I'm L45 Titan, can't get past the 2nd ultimatum trial after numerous attempts. My gear is ok, I can do the damage but maybe 1 in 5 attempts I wont die on the way to the boss. Then when I get the bird, he just drops a tornado that insta kills me. Just another design FAIL ggg. I'm 59 in age so dont have the reflexes of the kids, but really do you intend to just F*** people over so much and make them want to leave. I've done my hours in PoE1 so I'm not a n00b but this just takes the piss. |

" This is a UX problem with the game. After you die a few times your character should say something to prompt you to look at your stats. There's also lots of other things that have zero tutorial either. For example, the game just assumes you should know about disenchanting but I didn't know about it until a friend mentioned something while I was streaming on discord. I got half way though act one on my main character before learning about disenchant. There should be a dynamic quest or something when you get back to town after getting your first blue. |

" Oh so you want the game to hold you hand when you repeatedly make mistakes? No I don’t think so There’s plenty of information you can gather of multiple failed attempts at something unless you just … don’t care every time something bad happens? Seems very weird to throw your hands in the air and be like “Welp it didn’t tell me what to do so, I give up” Take some >>>Initiative <<< Rather than waiting for someone or something to tell you what to do Last edited by Poe2WarriorMan#6401 on Dec 21, 2024, 8:11:15 PM
