Dodge Roll is Good - I would only "reskin it" for each class.
So the same speed, distance, functionality, but different animation for classes. Becasue Duelist or Ranger rolling feels normal. But Witch or old Templar rolling feels odd.
What could dodges look like
- Long jump
- Shoulder fist dash
- Short sprint
- Magical steps with an afterimage.
This solution is literally just doing what I said... get rid of the dodge roll and bring back a variety of good movement skills.
You want to change how the roll works.
I want only to change how it looks.

I don't feel like dodge is THAT bad as an idea, and I've never even played any souls-like games. The problem with it currently is that it's just not useful outside dodging single mob/boss abilities.
- Make it faster/longer and take out the awful slowdown and delay after it, so we can actually get away from mobs with it.
or
- Completely overhaul enemy run speed, because at this point it's useless against hasted packs, you just end up rolling and rolling and hoping they get stuck to something so you can stop and actually cast something. At that point better just not do it and try to stand still and kill them before you die, which doesn't work when they also interrupt/delay your casting.

The mere existence of the Dodge Roll feels awful in an ARPG and it doesn't add anything to this game, it actually takes away from the RPG mechanics.
Instead of the game being balanced around your build needing enough defenses and you being good at actual positioning with Movement Skills, you have balanced combat, especially every boss encounter, around simply timing a dodge roll to i-frame and cheat death.
This feels really silly, every time I am in a boss fight I know "thats a move I am supposed to i-frame or else it 1-shots me". Ridiculous and has no place in any RPG.
Delete the dodge roll from the game and add in a good variety of Movement Skills that feel good to use and have decent speed so that they can be used for both avoiding enemy hits and for speeding up our movement through maps.
This way of avoiding was done much better in PoE. Having many good and fast Movement Skills also adds a lot of variety and identity to builds, instead of everyone rolling around in battle with the same extremely lame looking roll on the floor.

+1 , the dodge roll is a dog shit gimmick added because movement and targeting is terrible.

I feel lame dodge rolling, i want a blink, and at level a million.
I 100% agree.
All the abilities are just dmg dmg dmg more dmg.
And the game is too balanced around that dodge roll.
Making them give enemies 1 billion dmg late game that u can never tank it even with max reists, like what i fu just eventually wanna play a pretty solid tank, a tank that can melee and take more than 1 hit?
I like to eventually feel powerful, I don't want it to be an endless skillfest late.

Yes, it does take away from the RPG mechanics, it doesn't matter if you think your character should be capable of rolling. The game as an RPG should be balanced around enemies being able to or unable to kill you because of how much defenses you have, not balanced around absolutely having to i-frame avoid damage.

"Ridiculous and has no place in any RPG ..." You must not have heard of any game from FromSoft ... you know, possibly the most popular RPG of all time? The one based around dodge rolling?
In what timeline are Souls games the most popular RPGs ever? Not a single one of them sold many copies until Elden Ring. They actually sold quite a little. Elden Ring sold a lot because its open world which appeals to normies.
They are some of my favorite games ever but don't try to equate classic ARPGs with them, the genre is completely different and the dodge roll feels out of place in PoE2.
Besides that, even Elden Ring has way more importance placed on RPG mechanics than PoE2 right now. You can get close to 100% phys mitigation in Elden Ring, or you can make your build so good at blocking that you never need to roll.
Thats what an RPG is, giving the player the choice to do anything they want with their build. Souls games have NEVER forced the player into the rolling playstyle, it was always just an option and all the other options work in those games too.
There are no other options in PoE2, rolling is mandatory. The game is entirely balanced around it. This is not what an RPG is.
You're wasting your time... people are dumb these days... they don't have the brainpower to consider what kind of game they're playing, how it should work or what makes it fun...
They just want their favorite games to mash up into one monstrosity that doesn't function and if their favorite streamer tells them this is the monstrosity they asked for (in this case Diablo 4/Dark Souls with a sprinkle of PoE just to justify the name PoE2) they will defend it endlessly even if you explain to them with facts that it doesn't work...
Just let it go... this game is hopeless and will never be fixed... it's balanced SOLELY around the dodge roll, making a build is pointless since the only builds that work are the ones you do the most damage with meta skills as building defenses is a joke and overall the game is trying to suck the fun out of everything by tediously making you fail and waste time over and over and over... especially in endgame where it punishes you severely every time you die while also making deaths unavoidable by having 150 thousand different ways to one shot you...
This game is beyond saving... it will be "the new hype" for a while and then when the new hype comes out (maybe Monster Hunter Wilds in February) PoE2 will just die out in an inglorious fart because the devs are too stubborn to realize that this game is not even a looter ARPG at the moment... it's not even remotely close to the genre it's supposed to be representing...
