Replace the dodge roll with Movement Skills
The mere existence of the Dodge Roll feels awful in an ARPG and it doesn't add anything to this game, it actually takes away from the RPG mechanics.
Instead of the game being balanced around your build needing enough defenses and you being good at actual positioning with Movement Skills, you have balanced combat, especially every boss encounter, around simply timing a dodge roll to i-frame and cheat death. This feels really silly, every time I am in a boss fight I know "thats a move I am supposed to i-frame or else it 1-shots me". Ridiculous and has no place in any RPG. Delete the dodge roll from the game and add in a good variety of Movement Skills that feel good to use and have decent speed so that they can be used for both avoiding enemy hits and for speeding up our movement through maps. This way of avoiding was done much better in PoE. Having many good and fast Movement Skills also adds a lot of variety and identity to builds, instead of everyone rolling around in battle with the same extremely lame looking roll on the floor. Dodge roll feels good when you get used to it. Movement skills were also stupidly imbalanced and made designing challenging and engaging boss fights impossible. There is a reason every late game PoE1 boss fight was a gimmick fight. My only gripe with dodge roll is that it scales on movement speed and movement speed should be made an implicit on boots because of that. It sounds like your feedback also dips into the issue of non-dodge defensive mechanics and stats not being proportional though, which I actually agree with. It's early access and numbers still need to be tweaked. Last edited by LVSviral#3689 on Dec 19, 2024, 6:23:20 PM

There are already some movement skills in the game. Killing palm as monk. I use this when I need to get out of an area quickly or want to charge into a pack I'm far away from. Teleports me to enemy location. You can have both.

I like the dodge roll but on the other hand its a curse, it's glitching and you get stuck on eviroment especially during stuff like ritual which is really annoying
So from me +1 for movement skills over dodge roll |

Dodge roll feels strange as we arent used to it, but after the tweaks it usually does it´s job, and as someone said, itá easier to balance boss fights and everything else and make it more interesting because of it. Now, i think movement skills should be in the game, but really conditional to allow for some leeway, something that repositions you really fast when you F up really hard, something like 30 seconds CD and cant be modified in any way, this would allow for people to occasionaly gtfo of a really dangerous situation and i dont think it would break the pace too much, could even be 1 minute CD.

DR is good!
The slow stand up and attack delay after it is what's killing us. |

I think the addition of the dodge roll is good, games are evolving and moving forward regardless if you want it to or not. They purposely separated Poe and Poe2. PoE1 will continue to have updates and leagues and new mechanics in which may serve your taste better.
You’re free to give an opinion, but don’t mistaken your opinion as fact. The 83% positive steam review is implying that the majority likes the game. And if you want to say that the game will all of sudden die once the “honeymoon” period is over and all the reviews will be replaced by negative ones, I want to point out that, most gamers that dislike this game are quick to jump on the forums and immediately voice their opinions and post their negative reviews on steam. Most of the negative reviews are already in. And it’s still overwhelmingly positive on steam. |

I like the dodge roll way more than the PoE1 movement skills. It's pretty consistent and has no cooldown/charges to keep track of.
