Breach is a waste of time
I don't know what this mechanic is supposed to be all about, I can just say, my first impression is that it sucks. Luckily I figured I better complete my map before having a look at it, so I got credit for that at least, but no more than 3 seconds after activating it, I was swarmed by ultra-fast monsters and died.
It's no fun losing 10% xp from a mechanic you haven't seen before, haven't been told of before and given no in-game warning that something drastic is about to happen. Even with a warning, I don't see how this was survivable at all actually. It would only have served me to know not to activate it at all. Last edited by Rimander#5249 on Dec 20, 2024, 7:32:47 AM

Breach is the best mechanic in the game, stop your crying and get good, with a well-built character breach is insanely easy and extremely lucrative. Not to mention a ton of fun as its the only content where you can smash hundreds if not thousands of monsters in one go. Please stop trying to take away the fun because you cant handle something or do not take the time or effort to accomplish it. Thanks happy holidays!

" Nope. A generic Lightning Arrow or Monk Build which can be rather cheap can clear it easily. There is a reason why you build 4 to 5 characters in POE for certain situations. One should always build a warrior melee character so in case you juice your maps and the rolls are extremely bad for your casters or rangers you use your melee. And when you roll certain mods and there is a breach in it , use your ranger or your monk. Rampage IGN : Cool_Hamster

Way back in Act 1 in the Red Vale, I realized the claim about "slow and methodical combat" was just a ruse. Those Obelisks spawn enemies all around you and the only way out is either to be super tanky (which is impossible at that level) or have good damage output and kill them all instantly. You might get lucky trying to kite them but one or two unlucky stuns and you'd be dead.
Then you see the same encounter design again and again, with Mad Wolf's add phase (and even just the trash in the manor before seeing Mad Wolf), the beetles in Act 2, the honour system in the trial, the whole Dreadnaught zone is filled with fast moving rushers and ranged attackers, then in Act 3 we get those rituals again. Slow and methodical ends not even halfway through Act 1. The game is still designed for fast-paced high dps builds that can clear whole screens at a time. Slow and methodical combat just cannot happen when you easily face a pack of 6-10 enemies at a time, often moving and attacking faster than you do, all the while interrupting and stunning you, with ranged enemies throwing and spawning stuff that you have to move away from. In this game, the only thing that matters is sustained high dps. Last edited by kumogakure#7381 on Jan 7, 2025, 2:31:12 AM

" Lol, if you can't allow to get swarmed maybe don't get swarmed and fix your clear. If you're still not built to get swarmed and can't clear hundreds of monsters that means your build is dogshit and breach is a mechanic you should avoid for a period of time until your build is fixed. I'm really impressed that these warrior players have patience to build the most dogshit class to survive in breach, yet clearing it efficiently. Here's some breach gameplay with all atlas points allocated on a build that can't allow to get swarmed: https://medal.tv/games/path-of-exile-2/clips/jr9AKsqHAAIFlBBla?invite=cr-MSxnU20sMjMzOTI2MDQ2LA |

Breach is antithetical to the supposed PoE 2 more methodical combat approach, and currently everything is shaped around it. Simply, if you don't play META builds like Spark / Invoker / Gemling stat stacking / Deadeye, in general widescreen clear no aim needed builds, you just gimping yourself.
Nothing is right with time-dependent content like breach or delirium in PoE 2, if these mechanics left as is, expect further content to be just like breach / delirium and solidifying PoE 2 as PoE 1 with added dodge roll and upgraded graphic. Even if you try to make warrior builds to be able to do breach in maps, you just better play other braindead aimeverywhere two-screen-clear build, because you will lose in everything. |

Breach is currently the only thing worth doing in the endgame and one of few fun mechanics in the endgame. Please don't nerf the hell/fun out of it.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" You'll have to revise your build, I have a lv90 Titan and Breach is my favorite content, I love smashing monsters by the hundreds with Stampede. |

The risk of loosing 2 bars of XP for doing such events (even lower tier maps) is not worth it for me... and trust me I tried... I've seen some vids on youtube people doing breach.. full comet builds destroying the whole screen in seconds, including the breach boss... yea fun... If this is gonna be the way it should be played I might just not even bother at all.
I'm not a hardcore arpg player and I enjoyed the current state of the campaign much but endgame is already just plain boring to me. I realise it's probably part of the game and it's playerbase's expectations but this mindless grinding same areas over and over is just not for me. |

" My minion witch got roflstomped by breaches until I switched her up to have corpse explosion. My minions have good damage, but weren't clearing the mobs all around me quickly enough to prevent me getting swarmed. Even then, I can't clear even lower level breaches at anywhere near the rate of a stormweaver sorc, and it's lucrative content, so I'm leveling a lightning deadeye build to see how they fare. It's basically content that can only be fully utilized by skills that make everything go boom very quickly. Last edited by clarebunny440#7952 on Jan 7, 2025, 4:22:58 PM
