A3/A6 Silverback slam is incredibly overtuned
" Ohhh, the slam-rolling slam combo. Yeah, the thing with that is the first strike is pretty quick, but he doesn't empower his blade with flame like almost all the other attacks, so the best thing to do is anticipate that when you're waiting for him to fire an attack off, then roll through due to the combo coming afterwards. By the way, currently testing the pillar thing. You can be as close to the boss as the fire circle if using the pillar to block the shots. Dragged him directly against it and waited for him to fire some attacks off. Since the projectile sfrom that combo aren't slams, they're blocked by the pillar as mentioned. Also, if you use specifically the pillar and now the two side lanterns, you can also block -the flame breath -the burning swipe -the entire rolling slam combo |

From my experience, Blackjaw's 3 slam attack. Rolling toward and around him helped me survive the attack. Melee minion with chaos damage, I tried to out range the slam and got killed every time. But when I somehow miss rolled into him, I would only lose all my ES and half my HP. So dodge rolling toward and around him for that attack makes it survivable

" Did you just assume his race?! D: How dare you! |

" I mean, I had to quote simply for the schadenfreude alone. There is no counterplay, except for this counterplay, which is don't do these things. Right... Yeah he's overtuned and yeah I got wrecked by him, but it's hardly a massive issue in the scheme of things :P Last edited by Pathological#1188 on Dec 18, 2024, 11:17:29 PM

" So the only counterplay as titan is to animation cancel dodge roll into the correct direction or you're 100% dead, no matter how tanky you are? That'not good design, this isn't pinnacle boss. It's a campaign boss that unlocks character power (2 skill points) Is it a massive issue? No. Is it an issue? Yes. And it's one that's solved by simply turning down the damage sliders. If I can overlevel and invest the vast majority of my resources into tankiness (over 2500 hp+2k armour in campaign), and still be killed from full health simply for making a single wrong directional roll, then what is my incentive for investing into tankiness? Wouldn't I be better off just offscreening everything as a bow character if there is zero forgiveness for being in melee range? Isn't that the whole issue we've had in PoE 1 for the better part of a decade? One shots shouldn't exist for tanky characters outside of pinnacle bosses. If I'm playing a character whose main attack requires a 1.4+ second wind up, then I should be able to scale my defenses to survive for at least that long. That is currently not reasonably achievable for mace skills. Monster damage either needs to be nerfed, or defensive investment needs to be buffed. Otherwise, why invest into survivability? " speaking from a titan perspective, no, your counterplay is just like the other bosses up until that point, to back off after a few attacks/decent chunk of HP and anticipate he, like other bosses, uses new abilities when he gets lower in HP. See those new attacks, and then learn how to position and be ready for them. Also the "you're 100% dead no matter how tanky you are" part, false. Stop overblowing things if you want to be taken seriously when you talk about 'problems' |

Unfortunately most people just don't play on HC so our feedback often remains unseen, so, bump. I shouldn't be wasting hours on campaign only to be semi-randomly killed by a bullshit oneshot attack.

I play standard but my minion build Witch on Cruel Act 3 actually survived the supposed one shot slam with basically no armor. I don't have a screenshot of my build at the time but I had about 1200-1300 life and around 1100 ES. Cruel Jamanra gave me a godlike sceptre with 55 spirit and +3 minion skills and act 3 became ridiculously easy, I was playing my own music by then and dodge rolling and using skills to the beat of the music so I wasn't 100% focused against the gorilla, but I distincly remember rolling a little early for one of the slams when boss was low life and I wasn't killed, I still had 10-20% life left. I don't like one-shot mechanics and think it sounds ridiculous and incompatible with the very idea of hardcore mode, but apparently it's possible to not get one shot by act 6 gorilla.

" Show me a build that has more than 2525 hp and 2k armour in campaign. Because that's what I had when I died. Could I facetank a hit at level 100 with 9k hp as a gemling legionairre? Sure, but that's not a reasonable expectation for campaign. None of my friends playing softcore had more than 1500 hp when they finished act 6. If I can be one shot by a non pinnacle boss, then I have no incentive to invest into defenses. Scale damage, scale freeze/stun, play ranged, it's PoE 1 all over again. |

" That's a lower total hit pool than I had last night (2525) Last edited by ABedroomGangsta#6134 on Dec 19, 2024, 10:56:02 AM
