that said, a 6 link in this game is not exactly flexible. you use it once, and then you can never swap it anywhere else. so even your 4 6 links would at best be as flexible as poe1 would've been but for a price that's never been in poe1. currently as it sets if you are gonna 4 6 link it is costing about 1k exlats. that's a good chunk of money to buy a very good Two handed for example.

also you can just vaal your gems after greater orbing them, which are pretty plentiful

i am clearing juiced t17s and t16s easily and i only found 1 6 link "which i lost to corruption and i had to buy 2 more yesterday for 500 exalts"

your experience is not a measurement.

that said and as i said to others before, 4 6 links are still not gonna allow you the flexibility that 1 6 link does in poe1 "although in poe1 coloring can be a problem"

was anyone unable to play poe1 without 6 link ? but hwen you go to pinnacle bosses you'd want to have the 6 link and it should not cost you almost a thousend exalt to 6 link a few skills in preps to maximizing your end game content potential.

Literally nothing.

With the way the skill tree works, damage conversions, added damage, and the ABSOLUTE LACK of skill gem options, it doesn't even matter.

The game has a ton of issues, and this is one of them.

if you level a new char from scratch at this very moment you ain't getting a 6 link anytime soon when it sits at 250 exalts. at day 1 and 2 i was selling shitty rares to ppl cuz we all needed resistances and shit. but now it's not the same, a new player would need to dro pshit and upgrade gear slowly living on 4 link for a day or 2 to get a 5 link and then he would probably need about a week to get a 6 link because he can't get a 6 link while he is progressing through content that requires resistance, defenses and mid tier items.

rng is fine, but not if the unlucky one needs to pay 500 ex to 6 link his main 2 skills "clearing and single target ones"

There need to be fragments for greater and perfect.
Links are too important to hide behind a giga rare RNG drop.

The main problem i have with the links atm is that even on a 5-link the game is pretty easy in the endgame.

It is as if the game is balanced around having a 4-link.

The highest tier monsters should be more tanky and basically require a 6-link to kill, and 6-links should be easier to aquire.

Or we are just going to end up with a PoE1 endgame all over again, where decent builds instantly oblitirate anything because the game was designed around a lower power level.

speak from experience please.

once you corrupt a gem you can't modify it easily, so you have to quality it and 5 link it first.

to quality it you need abotu 10 ex now, to 5 link it you need 40 ex. that's a total of 50ex.


i've already tried to corrupt A LOT of 5 links. i have not yet to see a single one become 6 link. it could be bad rng but if i don't get a 6 link in 20 -40 corrupts i have to assume the odds are not as good as you think they are. so it is less efficent to corrupt for 6 link than it is to just buy a 6 link at which case buying a 6 link is 250ish ex right now.

if corruption was balanced in such a way where every 4-5 times you corrupt u get 1 6 link then you would say "yea that's about the same vlaue for 4-5 5 link vs 1 6 link so it's a nice balanced gamble"

but it clearly is not the case.

I think links should appear on gems like those from weapon skills, by levels (may it be 72 for 5 and 88 for 6). Putting such basic thing behind massive paywall (you pay in exalts :P) is just BS design and I hate it.

yes, that's how you have to deal with the issue now, but it does not solve the issue nor is it a proof that there is no issue.

getting that kind of 5 link would still be without quality too so it is also much weaker than a regular 6 link "stampede quality for example is HUGE damage boost"
